Ebullient and certainly not lacking in verve, the 2012 Schramsberg Brut Rosé 2012 is a testament to what cool climate viticulture in Carneros and the Sonoma and Marin coastal AVAs can achieve. As with the other Schramsberg sparkling wines I've sampled, this lovely rosé manages to be delicate and focused with pretty overtones of sweet cherries, raspberry brûlée, nougatine and mandarin orange. Stopped in one of the stores I frequent just to look and see what was looking good. I had no intention of purchasing anything, but isn't that how it always goes? I ended up picking up this blend of 80% Chenin Blanc that I truly love and 20% Viognier, the 2014 Pine Ridge Chenin Blanc Viognier.

Upon opening and pouring this wine is very expressive with notes of pineapple, mango, nectarine, mandarin orange, ginger and minerality.

The first sip you tell this wine is definitely on the sweeter side but not overly sweet. Tropical fruits, pineapple, mango, mandarin orange, tangerine, orange blossom, honeysuckle, wet rocks and a nice minerality.

This wine has a crisp medium + acidity with a medium bodied mouth feel and a long clean fresh finish. A very nice quaffable wine and at a great price.

This wine reminds me distinctly of a Muscat my grandfather produced in 2010; and the color is the first indication. Obvious extended skin contact, but low enough extraction to reach a lite-honey color. The nose is pungent and intense with tangerine skin wrapped in wild, homemade perfumes.
