Circling back on this bottle and I think I’ll bump the score up a notch from my initial rating of 89/100. I still think this lacks structure and a sense of purpose, but the notes are still appealing nonetheless: caramel green apple, dark chocolate with orange zest, and stewed Luxardo cherries, along with some cedar shavings. — 5 years ago
Popped and poured. Stewed dark brambles and Luxardo cherries with pie crust, Herbs de Provence (the American stuff with the lavender) and freshly cracked black pepper. On the palate, again brandied cherries and dusty dirty country road (riding my bike tells me that). Very good Paso Zin. — 5 years ago
A robust, luscious, and voluptuous Cab with suave tannins and lovely acidity. Mocha, cedar, coffee grounds, blackberries, succulent plums, sage, Luxardo liqueur, and trace amounts of menthol. First exposure to this producer. Won’t be the last. — 6 years ago

Backup bottle just in case the ‘01 Newton didn’t want to play ball. This is a really solid Cab that exhibits notes of blackberries, plums, creme de cassis, and baking spices. On the palate suave tannins that can stand only a little further integration, but don’t detract from the present drinking experience. Brooding dark fruits, Luxardo cherries, and blackberry cobbler on the palate without being overtly jammy or extracted. I think this wine is balanced nicely and will only improve in the coming years. — 7 years ago

Outstanding. Frothy mocha, creme brûlée, creme de cassis, Luxardo syrup, eucalyptus, juicy plums, blackberries, boysenberries, baking spices. This is a perfumed, full-throttled blend with intense aromatics, rich depth, beautiful structure, and a long finish. — 6 years ago

Fresh plums, stewed plum, campfire wood, grape juice, red & black currant, & raspberries on the nose. Fresh cigarette smoke up front. Oak, vanilla, stewed plum, raspberry & luxardo cherry pie, dark cocoa, & cherry cordial. High acidity. Medium-plus tannin. Velvety dryness. — 7 years ago
I kinda liked this one. Very Luxardo cherry on the nose... The palate offers this along with herbal, tobacco, beef jerky, and dry kirsch... Though we enjoyed this one at a Greek restaurant paired with lamb, I can't help but think about what other foods this might pair with... When we see Greek wine, we always think Greek food, but here I don't know if that's the obvious choice. I thought BBQ, but here I might even suggest turkey dinner may be a nice pairing. — 5 years ago

I have no idea why Benovia is not more widely recognized for their superb selection of wines. Regardless. This Zinfandel is beautiful- drinkable now with promise to gain with deep cellar time. Luxardo cherry, blackberries, chocolate and fine herb aromas lead to a precise and refreshing impression in the mouth. — 6 years ago
Luxardo cherries, oak/tobacco on nose, tannins barely there but still yummy. Decanted it this time as opposed to last December. Perfect. — 7 years ago
Fresh berries on the nose. Juicy, lightly tannic, notes of blackberry, blueberry, raspberry, & luxardo cherry. Juicy, fruit forward, & sweet, with a tannic finish. Lovely dessert wine. — 7 years ago
