Had this at a tasting and bought several bottles, aged well, just opened last one. Aged for about 12 months in French oak barrels (15% new). Ruby, brown edges, with aromas of red and black stewed fruits and complex spice. On the palate, flavors of layered fruit, ripe black cherry and raspberry with cedar, tobacco, herbs and nutty notes. Full soft tannins, balanced acidity, long ending with fruit and earthy character. Outstanding! Worth the wait! — 4 years ago
Deep, heady, dizzying nose of strawberry compote, cherry liquer, sandalwood, maybe some eucalyptus, and other exotic woods.
palate also brings damp earth, light rose , and a slight sanguine note. More muscular Than I would have expected out of a volnay. But at the same time precise and fresh with energizing acidity creating a nervy tension. Sensational
I should mention that it needed considerable time. Started off very floral and strawberry but somewhat one dimensional. Several hours later was a different wine

Beautiful wine with light ruby color, and rich aromas of raspberries, cherries, leafs of tomatoes, cheeses, meat, soil, leather and spices.
Soft tannins, good acidity.
Good balanced wine, I in taste - cherry juice, dried red berries, black pepper, leather and mashrooms, long finish.

Medium Ruby with red fruit and floral aromas, from 40-year old vines, aged in concrete tanks for 9 months. On the palate flavors of red plum, cherry, rose petals and earthy mint. Vivid acidity, medium fine tannins, dry with a medium+ finish. Very good, bottle age will benefit! Organic. — 3 years ago
Still youthful garnet color. Almost opaque. Fruit forward nose with notes of black cherry, rhubarb, brambly brush, moist earth and a little menthol. Fruit matches the acidity and delivers amazing balance. Another 96 that seems to have come around. A few years the acidity was too much to handle, but now it’s got a nice balance. — 8 years ago
Dryer than usual cabs. Alcohol note early and through the sip but still ok. Little cherry, little vanilla, medium bodied. Enjoyable to drink but wouldn't be my first choice. Vintage 2013. — 9 years ago
The 2020 Fleurie Chapelle des Bois has a little reduction on the nose, but there is good concentration here with wild strawberry and red cherry. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, very pure and smooth. Touches of blood orange furnish the long and lively finish. Delicious. (Neal Martin, Vinous, May 2023) — 3 years ago
Cranberry, cherry, red currant with some darker fruit. Cassis, pungent spices, dry earth/forest floor, hint of tobacco and leather. Birthday wine. — 6 years ago
This is just lovely with hints of black cherry and plum with creosote, black pepper and soy accents. Palate is full of spicy Syrah flavors with lots of white pepper, plum and black raspberry. Tannins are present but sauve with lifting acidity. Just a great level of balance on the earth driven finish. — 8 years ago

As close to perfect as possible. This 2016 vintage was dipped inn2024 with great pleasure. Beautiful fruits of cherry rounded by a nice tannin finish. The wine opened up and by the last sip the tannin complimented the cherry to a more oaky finish. Outstanding. On the occasion of welcoming Anna home! — a year ago
