Apricots a plenty on the nose and palate with hints of pineapple — 6 years ago
Spectacular. The first truly great rye I've had. Balance, mouthfeel, complex aromatics and a solid finish. I'd prefer more heat, but that's just me. — 7 years ago
Disgracefully good. A gift for the evening from @David L and his lovely wife Kristen - thank you so much my friends 😍. Never tasted this before, but am mesmerized now... With every sip, this evolves like a chameleon. Texture, weight and acidity are all in lock-step. Agree with RP on this. Perfection in a glass. — 7 years ago
Very refreshing. Zippy acidity. — 9 years ago
Delicious balanced grapefruit and stone fruits, lacidity that needs more time to soften. Touch of creamy oak. Light Golden color. END OF LOCK DOWN CELEBRATIONS — 6 years ago
From magnum. Switching in between the 2016 cab and this Rhone blend, I actually like this better. Though not overly complex, the delicious red and blue fruits, gentle acidity, and silky tannins were seamless. Throwing in the sense of earth, here we have a subtle and elegant bottle. — 6 years ago
While I think this is an outstanding wine, this app is turning into a useless tracking device. I scan and lock to compare prices and see “unavailable” for the past 4 years!!!! Reason I don’t contribute is ... post the price of the vino (ball park) and people might engage a lot more. So far the group around me right now ( 50+) says the app sucks... feedback: Fix It!!!! Just sharing the truth. — 7 years ago
Young and should have never ordered this along side of Haut Brion. It was a distant back up to the Chateau Margaux, which sold just before we could lock it down! Probably above average by itself, but tonight it was mediocre with the other wines. — 7 years ago
Finally able to lock down reservations at Magdalena's. They have a unique set up in that they have a set menu that changes every week, and you are notified the week before if there are spots available...they sell out within 5mins! We were lucky to get on the list for their most recent "Supper Club" as they call it.
Based on the menu, we figured 1 white and 1 red was appropriate. After enjoying my favorite Sauv Blanc (the Addax SB), my buddy Luke (who is a big Pinot fan) brought this to expand our knowledge on pinots and see what Oregon has cooking. At pop and pour, this was delicious. Lots of cherries, leather and dates on the nose. The taste was very different than the aromatics. More leather, Bing cherry, cedar and a touch of rhubarb. A very "dusty" Pinot. — 8 years ago
Just awesome.
A celebration of life.
Our life, our sons life, our lives together.
12 months ago on this night we hadn’t yet met our son.
Tomorrow he turns 1.
We survived, he survived and now we’re here.
Lock down, a pandemic, no gatherings, low to no visits with family members. It’s tough.
Life is golden regardless of isolation and wines like this help keep everything in perspective.
Brilliant, linear, generous.
Stay safe everyone. — 6 years ago

A stronger showing for the ‘06 vintage, it has hit its stride and drinking mature at the moment, I’m not sure I would take it much longer. Deep garnet with reddish hues, nose is low toned, dark and composed of savory leather, chocolate, espresso, stewed plum, black fig. Also the classic garrigue notes accompany but more in a distilled/medicinal sort of way. I think the structure from the oak is holding this wine up, theres tannin there to posture the deep and sappy fat this has. This doesn’t quite have the acid to lock in the freshness, so this comes across a little more thick than usual, more gras. Love the deep black fruit and bitter cocoa notes though, again leather and coffee come about, some meatiness, tar, spice cake, clove, and pepper there too. No reason to hold any longer, wishing I could’ve popped a cork at the 8-10 year mark on this guy. — 7 years ago

THE LOCK EL CANDADO — 7 years ago

The 15’ bottling sees Petit Verdot leading this Bordeaux blend at 32%, with 26% CS, 26% Merlot, 13% CF, and 3% Malbec.
Complex and deep nose of blackberry, cassis, fig, dry pine cone, dark soy source, butterscotch, thyme, black pepper, with hint of violet. The palate, while delicious and smooth, lacks the depth I expected. Finely grained tannins lead to a long peppery finish.
