Incredibly smooth and floral sake, very light notes of peach blossom and lilac. Clean palate without being overly dry. — 8 years ago
Found this one behind another one in storage. All I can say is....DAMN. This drinks like a Sangiovese that I paid 3x the amount for. Dense cedar and a little sweet blackberry. Smooth operator on the front and finish. A part of me is very sad this one was bought out by Kendall Jackson but I hope they kept their identity intact. Lilac and pepper finish. Immense. LOVED this wine. Almost gave it 95 but not quite there. I wish I had another case of this one! — 8 years ago
Very strong floral components lilac and rose, with fresh raspberry, vibrant acidity for a wine of this age and surprisingly youthful. — 6 years ago
Lilac and peach with a solid minerality coming through the end. — 7 years ago

Girard 2013 Petite Sirah at 14.5% is kicking it!!!! I could drink this entire bottle by myself. The color is not opaque but darker than most sirahs. It is a petite grape so this is expected. The bouquet is lavender and lilac. The initial palate is blueberry, blackberry, and dark cherry. Then comes the chocolate with a buttery smooth finish leaving your tongue very dry. What a great wine! Fantastic job guys. Cheers to Girard vineyards. — 8 years ago
Red currant, melon, and lilac on the nose, with a little pencil lead and leather as well. Fruit forward but really balanced, without being jammy at all. Would definitely drink again! — 8 years ago
Deep ruby-purple with jammy blueberry, black cherry, cassis, olive, and bacon with lilac, raisin, herbs and granite. Medium bodied with oodles of ripe fruit and meaty layers. Firm, plush and pleasantly chewy tannins and a wonderful juicy acidity. The finish is long with a nice interplay of savory nuances and lush dense fruit. — 5 years ago
Opulent, ripe and structured, a superb combination of full flavor, intensity, and backbone. Its color is beautifully deep and concentrated. Subtle floral notes of lilac and rose petal lead into complex aromas of earth, black cherries, cranberry, black tea, allspice and clove. Full bodied and harmonious, the mid palate is layered with sweet, supple fruit and flavors of pomegranate and cherry.
Aged 8-10 months in barrel. Elegant, ripe dark fruits, cassis and violets with spicy and smoky notes. Young but pleasing. Refined and rich; shows plenty of red fruit goodness; a bit bright and lively now, the wine could use a year or two to settle down — 6 years ago
Surprise 2009 Napa Merlot tasting after the Pahlmeyer tasting.
Deep purplish ruby red. Lovely nose with notes of gunpowder, tobacco, dark berries, lavender, lilac and a touch of gravel. Medium tannins (7/10) and medium plus body. Lots of dark berries, sweet spices and woody. Long finish. Drink till 2022. — 7 years ago
One the nose, perfumed purple florals, lilac, blue fruit blend, blackberries, black plum, black raspberries, hint of pepper, whiff of tobacco, dry herbs & dark soils. The body is leaner but the tannins are M-M+. The palate has lots of; blue fruits, black berry, black plum, black raspberries, pepper, tarry notes, black licorice, dry herbs, figs, tobacco, soft leather, round, big, acidity and leaner nice perfumed finish. Photos of; their tasting bar, shiny new stainless tanks and their driveway entrance sign. — 8 years ago
