Never been a big fan, wish I was. But they do a nice Cab Franc. OK, I have learned - let breath, even decant, for 2-3 hrs. The longer the better. It really was burn at first, but give it some time, and it really popped. Smooth, dark berries, touch of funk, a little earth, iron, leather - all the nice things you expect from a Cab. Next time I'll know better, and open sooner. — 8 years ago

I love Bob's style of winemaking across the board, but especially his Merlots (Switchback, Pride, Hourglass, and his own label is no exception). This one is Big, bold, very fruit-forward with pronounced oak (but not overpowering) and fairly strong tannins. Another kick ass performance from a Spring Mountain merlot. Bold, dense and chewy, expresso and black cherry with significant warmth and length. If you think you don't like merlot ascend the circular back roads of Spring Mountain (or go online if you're lazy) and get a Switchback, Pride Mountain vintner select, Paloma, Keenan or Barnett and you can thank me later.
