VDP auction bottling. Hard to describe this one as its weightless and in complete balance. There's no hard edges anywhere, but still one of the most hardcore wines that I've ever tasted. The acid level tips the scales and its tart citrusy profile does include some tropical fruits but this this wine is all about its acid drive and nervous minerality. Unique. — 10 years ago

Simple VdP Viognier, with malolactic coming thru along with almonds and apricot - more restrained than Condrieu — 10 years ago
Regardless of vintage Willi & Christoph #Schaefer work brilliantly with whatever Mother Nature gives them and in 2013 it was very small amounts but very high quality!
The #Spätlese cleared €41 for 750ml & €132 for #magnum with the #Auslese coming in at €150 for 750ml & €78 for 375ml & €300 for 1.5L - always fair and square! #VDP #Auction — 11 years ago

2011, Pierre Gonon, Les Iles Feray, VDP de Ardeche, Syrah. Gonon's "baby" St. Joseph. Light and tasty Syrah. Red and black fruit with violets and pepper. Has savory flavors on the mid palate. Smooth and light. Pairs well with a grilled ribeye. — 11 years ago
This is VDP because in this appellation in the western Loire you have to blend — 11 years ago

Michael Marceline
a singularly unique Riesling from an organic, VDP producer. wasn't able to find vinification details, but i'm almost certain this is open barrel fermented and raised in used oak. it's quite luscious, but with that inimitable tartaric cut that Riesling does like no other. dripping with marzipan, butter, and crushed peaches. #drinkmoreriesling #rheinheissen #germany #riesling — 9 years ago
