Shouldn’t we rate more wines on drinkability? I’d enjoyed a glass or two of other wines over dinner and then opened this as a reliable partner for the evening. I’m now finishing the bottle. On my own 🙁 /😋 Yes the Germans haven’t caught burgundy up but this still is a satisfying pinot at an affordable price. It’s fairly light on its feet, carries a twist of spice and is more savoury than new world pinot pretenders. Mission accomplished. — 4 years ago

Actually my first ever Lauer. Cannot believe that myself..:: served blind, I started off in Rheinhessen (maybe Wittman?) but finally decided upon a GV from Alzinger in Wachau. I'm normally not a huge Riesling fan, unless dry as a desert, hence this moderately sweet Riesling is a bit out of my wheelhouse. That said, it's pallet has good structure that is hard to evict from the tongue, comprised of mountain florals, pear, green apple, and minor minerals that feels almost effervescent. Nice acid balance. Great for passing the afternoon with light snacks. — 8 years ago

Deep yellow, lightly floral nose (muscat?) with a hint of apple. Ripe, full-bodied fruit is nicely tannic and a bit saline. A Banyuls VDP from 50-60 year-old vines. — 9 years ago

First Charta Riesling I have tried (and still the only one I have ever come across). Complex aromatics of white flowers, crushed stone, and red apple. Barely off dry with adequate acidity - this is designed as the perfect food wine. Very good at $19 (on sale).

11.5% abv - 9.8 g/l RS - 6.9 g/l acidity

Banging VDP juice! Wild flowers, apricot and acacia honey on the nose. Rich and ripe with layers of stone and tropical fruit finishing with a bit of sweet lime. Full in the mouth with mouthwatering acidity. Extreme Riesling! — 9 years ago
