This wine really delivered for me. The beau wasn’t as enamored. Alpine spring in a bottle: apple blossom, honeysuckle, nectarine, golden apple, chamomile, Meyer lemon, fields of clover and sun-warmed pebbles/gravel. Bright, fresh but solidly built with a finish that goes on and on and on... — 6 years ago
Not for the faint of heart. I paired this with Wine Braised Beef Short Ribs via Barefoot Contessa. 2 hour decant and it’s off...camphor, black fruit and cassis Lacquer. Without the decant I think the tannins maybe over the top. Lush and dense at first, time made it light and nimble. Rich and opulent with notes of juniper, taste of black truffle and a sweet note of molasses. Finish that is sweet and long with a slight sinus cleanser. Time will aid in the wines development. This 2018 #pinotgrigio is just as sophisticated as the 2015 I drank a few years ago. Citrus, green orchard fruit, wet stone aromas with slight white flower undertones, a fleshier weight on the palate, mineral layers. This PG gets more expressive and enjoyable as it warms up in the glass. #wsjwineclub — 5 years ago
— 6 years ago

Exceptional Alta Langa. I had it with Paola and Flavio at 100Vini in Alba. Nice memories. — 3 years ago
A captivating display of blackberry, plum, grilled herbs, cedar dust and balsamic spice wafts up from the 2016 Mille e una Notte. It’s silky in texture and polished in feel, offering ripe black fruits lifted by cooling minerality. This remains tightly wound up in its youthful state, as a fine coating of sweet tannin settles in to create a structured finale, with pretty purple-tinged florals and hints of licorice lingering long. The 2016 may be one of the most refined expressions of Mille e Una Notte that I’ve ever tasted, but it will need some time to show its best. This is composed primarily of Nero D'Avola, Petit Verdot and Syrah, which is expertly refined in new barriques for 14 months. (Eric Guido, Vinous, June 2021)
