A sweeter style than some of the other houses and for me the sugar overpowers it a little - masks some of the exciting nutty fun going on after nearly 30 years in the bottle. I see other reviewers complain of a lack of acidity in other vintages, that’s interesting as this one is very present. The tannins have died. Would be curious to see if the flattening of sugars and acidity bring this into balance in another 50ish… — 12 days ago

Pale brick red with a reddish rim. Not as orange’y as Barros.
Restrained nose, spice, orange peel, ripe figs and kirsch.
Juicy & fresh on the palate with zippy acidity balancing the high sweetness.

A tapestry of luscious dried fruit: figs, apricots, raisins, and prunes, all wrapped up in a soft yet very thick velvety mouthfeel. There are hints of cloves, caramel and even tobacco on that linger on the pállate. Well worth waiting for 58 years!! — 4 years ago

SPEC TA CU LAR! Here you feel the absolute majesty of a wine who can be promoted to at least 2nd growth. Cedar, camphor, eucalyptus, butterscotch/4 spices, yellow curry. I’ve always loved ‘00 in Pauillac has I think it’s the last great of the classic style. Definitely this bottling is a keeper. — a year ago
