Best domestic orange wine I’ve ever had. On the nose, almost Pinot noir-like with earth and dark cherries. In the mouth, the lightness of a white, with the tannin and mouthfeel of a red - a bit of dark fruit and cracked pepper. Excellent minerality. Good acid. Medium-long finish. — 3 years ago

Never heard of this AVA or producer, but I will seek them out. Very interesting, fresh, natural tasting wine. Would have guessed cru Beaujolais blind. On the nose, dried roses, black pepper and dark fruit on the nose, bright juicy blackberries, cranberries and cracked pepper in the mouth. High acid, medium-long finish. Grippy tannins with some air. So this was part of tasting this next to a cider with 50% of this same wine added to the apple cider. I like the cider better. This is coats the palate. I get lemon curd, grapefruit pith, almost a bitter green character, and a hint of tea. Very interesting. — 4 years ago

Mmm I smell the antediluvian savoir faire of Burgundy and taste the volcanic rich essence of the Willamette Valley in this old world style Pinot Noir. Tobacco, cedar, black plum and black cherry, even a slight hint of vanilla infiltrate the nose and gloss over the palate wi th the addition of black pepper and black licorice on the finish. I like Blaufränkisch and this is my first Oregon expression of it. Tastes like a snappier darker Oregon Pinot Noir. Neat wine. Johan is a biodynamic winery a few clicks closer to the coast from Eola-Amity Hills. Good value. — 4 years ago
