Beautiful wine, smooth after taste. — 9 years ago
See previous notes from 28 July 2021. Barb thought raspberry, cherry also herbs and earth. Really enjoyed this and can see why it won the most prestigious Trophy on the Australian Show Circuit, the Jimmy Watson Trophy for the best one year old dry red at Royal Melbourne. Always difficult to source Jimmy Watson winners. This SGM Blend was the last of 2 bottles — 4 years ago

I was looking for something to pair with a binge on the new season of Better Call Saul. For scenes of Albuquerque and Santa Fe I needed something simple yet classic, but not tired. The New Mexico sun had me thinking white. Something from the "what's old is new" category seemed appropriate as well. And if Jimmy isn't Chardonnay...
Some new oak, but no malo. Lemon custard, caramelized apple, and orange blossom. Parker calls it "premier cru Chablis-like" and I wouldn't disagree. A balanced, and even bipolar, round and racy character. This fit the bill perfectly. — 8 years ago
First time with this wine - me likely - big bold beautiful - decanted for one hour - this does have a jimmy Durante nose on it - a real intoxicating one - drink the rest in another hour - i have to remember to breath as @Jody Scharf reminds me and remember the band Durant Durant as they say "Relax relax" - nice night for wine and smiles - love to 😁😬😬 — 9 years ago
Quite full of Jimmy complex flovours and at first sugar sweet but later balanced. — 5 years ago
Pale to Mid Crimson in colour. Red cherry and a tarry note . 80% whole bunch in the ferment. On the palate red and black cherry (flesh and skins). A fuller style - medium weight + palate. Mornington Peninsula is very good for Pinot Noir and this was the first Pinot to win the prestigious Jimmy Watson Trophy for Best One Year old Dry Red at the Royal Melbourne Wine Show. Delectable this is the Single Block Pinot Noir not the Syrah. — 5 years ago
The closest California wine I found to a really good Italian Primitivo. Definitely a little bit Jimmy lots of cherry but still pairs well with venison or pork. — 6 years ago
The Jimmy Watson Trophy is awarded to the best one year old Dry Red at the Royal Melbourne Wine Show and is highly sought after, guaranteeing an immediate sell out. To complicate matters only 250 cases of this wine were made and this wine won the 2011 JW Trophy. I managed to buy 2 bottles and this is my first and it is superb. Made by SA Shiraz Royalty in Nick Glaetzer from Tasmanian cool climate Shiraz. Aromas of Pepper, Egyptian spices, Incense. On the medium bodied palate spicy red fruits and more white pepper finishing with soft supple fine tannins. An absolutely lovely Northern Rhone style. Would defy anyone to pick this blind as an Australian Shiraz. — 8 years ago

From a friend who visited the winery. Good concentration and depth. Love the freshness of the fruits here. Very well balanced. Long life ahead.
