Delicious!! Need I say more… — 4 years ago
Wonderful wine. From what I remember, there was an underlying savory/mineral note to it which was next level. — 4 years ago
Very spicy and herbaceous, with soft tannins and lively acidity. — 6 years ago

I wanted this to match a more serious & somber moment, but my last bottle may have been moving out of its grace period: I found the deeper Pinot Noir style volcanic fruit has become more shrill & a one note? perhaps a slightly compromised bottle? Or is it maxed out at 11 years? — 4 years ago
Gorgeous buccia di cipolla color. Texture of rosé champagne decanted, pinot meunier. Super delicate, guava, Haribo peach rings, overripe apple, red apple skin tannins. Unico! — 5 years ago
I might confused this wine with southern Pino Noir or Nebbiolo from sandy soils. Highly mineral to the nose, silicon burnt grass, gum and strawberry and a lot of fruits. Good tannins , very well balanced and have a potential to grow. Old vines (100yr ) and lava soils, French oak malolactics , fermentation. Vanilla and allspice in secondary fragrances. — 7 years ago
This was an exciting, complex, delish wine. Tart red fruit, great acidity, fine tannins and the perfect amount of forest floor/ herbal/ funk. Bet it would be amazing in a few years. But woops glad I didn't wait — 8 years ago
Rich and spicy. '15 is a bit youthful. Silky mouth feel. Slightly earthy. Cinnamon. Medium tannins. Hard to argue with the $20 price point. Great value. — 9 years ago
I wasn’t expecting to like this as much as I do, for some reason. Anyway, this is excellent. Very fragrant (with air), showing intense sweet hay, meadow flowers, ginger ale notes, crisp pear, and crushed stone. Intense in the mouth too, but with a weightlessness that is very appealing. Long, minerally, bone dry finish with an almost Muscadet-like quinine thing at the end. — 4 years ago
🏅 Rating 92+/100 (4,25⭐)
Tobacco leaf. Full of red and some black berries. Tanins are ripe, granular. Oaky. Midpalate fruit.
Powerful 100% Tempranilio. Alion is owned by Alvarez family. Just 12km away from Vega Sicilia, which belongs to the same family.
Top quality wine that can compete with Valbuena 5°, but made in a slightly more modern style.
That's not the first time I open this vintage of Alion. Now it feels more tight. Needs more bottle aging. I strongly recommend some aeration before serving this wine. Maybe leave it for a good couple of hours in wide decanter.

Grand wine, loved it. Lots of life, rich with so many layers. I believe it’s still had more age-ability still. — 8 years ago
Best I have had in some time. — 9 years ago
Wow. Who knew we would find one of the best bottles on our trip so far at a "hypermarket" selling for €30. Primitivo, I understand to be similar to zin, is one of the two great reds produced in Puglia. Very elegant, easy on the palate and yet held up with red orechiette. — 9 years ago

This is all delicate, barely ripe fruit (apple, pear, nectarine, tangerine) with medium+ body and acid, and a finish that just won’t stop. Very pretty - I would have called it Chenin Blanc if I had tasted it blind. — 3 years ago
