Dark inky purple color, nice tannins with a soft finish — 9 years ago
Tonight I'm drinking something very special I'm drinking a 2006 Salvatore Molettiere Taurusi. It has deep rich elements of smoke tobacco tar with a brilliant peppery finish and a strong subtle middle of cherry and plum. Not only is this one of the most delicious wines that I've ever tasted but it has certain significance.
Most of the people who know me today have only known me for a few years. However what most people don't know is shortly after high school my life i was in complete disarray. I was living on my own I had no money I didn't eat every day and I had really no clue what I was doing as an adult. I made stupid mistakes for which I'm still upset at myself. And I've been climing myself out of this hole that I dug ever since.
However, today marks a great day for me. I just got approved for a new apartment in Center City. I'm moving out of the ghetto in Kensington and for the first time since high school I really feel like my life is coming together on steady trajectory toward self-actualization.
This wine is highly significant because the Vintage of 2006 was the same year that I graduated high school. That means that the grapes made for this wine were harvested just a few months after my high school graduation. These grapes were on the vine being grown when I was still struggling through high school. These grapes were fermenting at a time that I had no idea what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. These grapes were being bottled at a time that I was lucky if I ate everyday. And now because of the amount of money I'm making because of the new job that I have, because of the new opportunities that I've created for myself, I'm able to spend the exorbitant amount of money every once in awhile to treat myself to a delicious, delicious Taurasi.
This wine followed the same life that I had. The grapes were being crushed at a time that I was being crushed. They were being ravaged by bacteria called yeast at a time that I was also going through similar changes. This wine was being bottled at a time that I couldn't fill my stomach. This wine took 10 years to get to my palate and now that it's here it's significance is not only moral but incredibly delicious. — 9 years ago
Quite elegant and Hermitage-like with its nuances of black pepper, dry blood, iron, smoked sausage, black olive tapenade, smoldering fireplace and Provencal herbs. No apparent heat or sweetness, there's an understated hint of bramble-coulis in the mid-palate. A gorgeous wine. — 10 years ago
Although sourced in Napa, Sonoma and Washington State, this beauty is blended and aged by vintner and visionary, Anthony Schroth right here in the heart of the Tetons. This luscious Cab Franc/Syrah blend just won a Silver Medal at the San Francisco Chronicle’s annual wine competition. Dark cherry and blackberries are the prominent fruits in this full-bodied, well-balanced gem. Fantastic price point too. Go get you some! #jacksonholewinery #jhfoodandwine — 6 years ago
This wine had really good black cherry aromatics along with a bit of a savory character. The entry of this wine is medium-bodied at best, and then it sort of descends into a hole in the middle. Makes a nice comeback in the finish, with some mint and black cherry. Very stiff youthful oak tannin finish. This seems to be a producer that sided on the Traditionalist side in the Barolo wars, and this is the side I typically prefer. However, this one just didn't have the complexity, no fault of its own. Will be a monster in 10 years. — 7 years ago

Had it with momos in Jackson Hole! Tasty time - not too fruity, rich finish — 6 years ago
Greek wine is a hole in my knowledge of European wines that you can drive a truck through...but this grower has to be their Raveneau. Lemon oil, citrus blossom, toasted pignolis and sea salt. Lovely, classic texture with adequate acidity. Fantastic. — 7 years ago
A bit on the quirky side. I really have no idea where this wine is in the spectrum of things. It definitely isn't done, but it has a big hole in the middle. The nose is fruitcake and cola. The entry is pretty big and rounded. Powerful fruit. At first the middle was dead, but after 30 minutes it really started to come around and showed some cinnamon, spice, nutmeg. The finish became a little more acidic. Slight toasted tannin finish. Really impressed. I have stayed away from opening these mainly because I thought they were all dead, but curiosity killed the fat cat and the result was MUCH better than expected. — 7 years ago
We had a bit of a debate on rating this one. It's terrific - so far above most wines - with amazing arimas of blackberries, kirsch, and a trace of iodine. The wine has a bit of a hole in the mid-palate - not sure where that's coming from - but otherwise it's fantastic with an evolving, pretty much seamless finish. Will probably continue to develop for a few more years...but why wait? — 8 years ago
Great taste for a reasonably priced wine — 9 years ago
A wall of cedar coated in turbinado crystals, sweet tea, vanilla mist, wintergreen and wildflower honey up the two-hole. Really a gorgeous array. Orange blossom honey, pine nut, rock candy, lemongrass, cocoanut, cocoa powder, soft vanilla, sweet tobacco, coffee candy, brickle notes, squash blossom, poppy flower, and the worlds most perfect raisin. As delightfully indulgent as drifting carelessly down a clean river in spring and being enveloped in an endless array of budding flora! — 9 years ago
S.S. Mandani
Today I’m missing the ability to travel to far-flung places or to a local watering hole for that matter.
Intense aromas of dark roast espresso coffee tannins, sandalwood, berries, and cinnamon spice.
Upfront cinnamon and black pepper spice kick, medium body and acidity. Smooth operator with a cool whisper of raspberries and the like culminating in a pleasant clove afterglow.
This is different in a good way. Complex and surprising. Easy drinking, too. Could think of many ways to pair this culinarily and seasonally. From baked lamb to popcorn, to even some rich creamy gelato flavors. — 6 years ago
