Powerful aromatics that speak to Aussie Riesling... Key lime, grapefruit, lemon zest, and petrol - think fresh tennis balls. Bounding acidity meets ripe, juicy tropical fruit, as this maintains a dry, lasting finish. Paired with spicy curry, but would also go great poolside in the summer. Fun fact: Vineyard planted in 1912. Outstanding effort. 11% ABV — 5 years ago
Bought these several years ago and decided to cellar after one mouthful. It has certainly aged well, soft tannin finish is a lot longer although still a bit of acid up front. — 6 years ago
Still solid red, only slightly bricking towards the rim. Nose is elegant, cedar and blackcurrant with a touch of menthol. Palate is smooth, beautiful weight and still mostly primary fruit; blackcurrants and plums with a hint of spice. A lovely bottle of well aged Aussie Shiraz. Top stuff. — 8 years ago
Huge, classic Barossa Shiraz--loads of fruit but a bit more balanced now. — 9 years ago
V nice Shiraz - a lot of depth, and great value at under $20! — 10 years ago
Remarkable wine. Fleshy, full, smooth, fine and soft tannins. Well aged. Nice in the larger format bottle. Lots of fog flavors on the nose and palate as well as some mint and garden herbs and spices. Quite complex for an Australian Grenache! — 5 years ago
Hint of pepper. Great with homemade burgers — 6 years ago
Nice dark red color, aromas of cherry, herbs and creme se cassis. Smooth- niche blend of Cab and Shiraz. — 7 years ago
NV Sparkling Shiraz. Basket press. Dark purple hue. Wow - amazing nose. Black plums, sweet spice, mulberries, leather, and hints of earthy manure. Fabulous. On the palate, off dry, high acidity, deep concentration of flavours, medium plus body and medium alcohol. Great depth on the long lingering finish. A revelation. Clearly the best sparkling Aussie wine I have tried, never mind sparkling red wine. Awesome. 94 points. — 7 years ago
Amazing wine......drinking with Rob K who just got promoted (again) to Full Prof (yes the spelling of Full is correct).....at this rate he will be Dean of the Faculty by August. Wine is a wild mixture of petroleum, chocolate, toffee, blueberrys.......everlasting finish......for a 2002 this thing is hitting its prime right now — 7 years ago
This is one of my favourite Shiraz's — 9 years ago
Not on the level when spectator named it wine of the year a few years ago, but still good. More earthy and less fruity than most better shiraz's , but consistent and more full bodied& complex than your average Shiraz. A perineal best buy at $15. — 9 years ago
Enormous oak. Hard to believe this is 16 years old. Plenty of life. — 10 years ago
Nice, but a bit boring tbh. Overoaked to the point of caricature. — 3 years ago
Dark purple. On the nose there is ripe plums, blueberry, pepper and wiff of oak. On the palate it's full of sweet dark fruits, some vanilla, pepper and mix of granberry and lingonberry that comws up towards the end. Tannins are fine if a bit drying and wine has nice structure and acidity that keeps it fresh. This could be from southern france. Great qpr — 3 years ago
Berry fruits with hint of spice. — 5 years ago
The palate is rich, round & soft with concentrated berry fruit & hints of anise. These flavours are enhanced by velvety tannins & spicy length of flavour on the finish.
Pepperjack Barossa Shiraz is a blend of Shiraz parcels sourced from premium vineyards throughout the Barossa. Parcels selected for Pepperjack Barossa Shiraz have bright, rich fruit concentration with a range of flavours from red berries to rich plums and a hint of savoury notes.
The fruit is fermented for up to ten days depending on the parcel of fruit, then aged for 12 months in a mix of American and French Oak. Individual parcels of fruit are matured separately to maximise the blends complexity through a staged selection process. The resultant wine is soft and plush with lots of flavour, balance and a fine tannin structure — 5 years ago
Nose of; black currants. Burnt ambers, black plum, plum, blackberries, dark cherries, black raspberries & warm liquid black licorice. Palate fruits are again the same as the nose. Warm rising intensity spices, baking spices; cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, the core flavor of anise, tarry notes, fresh violets, dry dark florals, crushed dry rocks, rich dark soil, soft leather. Finishes big and lush dark fruits, warm spice and beautiful acidity. I also had their 12 of out half bottle at Vintners restaurant. Really good and at an amazing QPR. If you can find them in 375ml, you should see them at a great price. Photos are further shots of the tasting room and grounds. — 7 years ago
Smells kind of like... Wax, I suppose and mild oak.
Tastes big. Dark berries, nice round tanins with a mild finish. — 7 years ago
Plum, blackberry, black cherry, licorice, vanilla and mint (of course!). Big and round and fruitier on the mouth than nose. — 8 years ago
Thick. Luscious and got plenty of legs. Love this blend — 9 years ago
I love Dan Standish. He is one of the best winemakers. Lovely wine, very young. Blueberry and Red silky fruit. Full Bodied but not overly alcoholic, heat isn't obvious in this wine. Great length and layers of flavours. Big points from me 95 points. A producer I highly recommend! Typical sweet Barossa fruit, very seductive... — 9 years ago

Color of inky purple. Nice many leg. Nose is bold with ample acidity, dark fruits, strawberries, tobacco leaves, brown sugar, and ripe grapes. Taste of follows the nose with addition of black pepper note, mouthfeel, low tannins, more strawberry and mix if sweetness and acidity. Flavors are plenty. Aftertaste shows more warmth and hickory note. Nicely done. — 10 months ago
