Ravines Wine Cellars

Finger Lakes Chardonnay 2013

Nose has grilled lemons, lemon buttercream, lime zest, distant brown butter, orange zest, dried apricot and (minor) struck flint.

Palate has dried lemon peel, pineapple core, buttercream, toasted walnuts, warm banana with faint sweetness on the very long finish with medium acidity. A great wine, decanted 4H and will appreciate at least another 3-4H of opening. Future bottles may be 2024-26+. Very good now, maybe one of the best FLX Chardonnay's I've experienced.

Partial Appassimento method for a portion of the grapes, really yields some extra character and depth to the wine. Only guy doing this in the FLX, Morten Hallgren, to the best of my knowledge. I'm coming to the altar here, it's the right way to handle his Chardonnay style. πŸ‘

$24 direct from the winery cellar, to our cellar, to our glasses tonight. Being in the wine club has good benefits. πŸ‘Œ

@Arden Barnett : Not that I’ve seen, but if you find any, let me know. Some of their rieslings score quite well. A buddy of mine at Classic has a small stash and will bust one out from time to time. If you ever make your way there, let me know and maybe we can open one.

Keuka Village White Blend 2015

Nose has honey drizzled on citrus peel, (light) candle wax and white flowers.

Palate has sweet citrus, pineapple and under-ripe white peach.

I'm quite satisfied with the development of this bottle, likely can hold until 2021-22, but in a great spot tonight at four years past vintage.

Finger Lakes Cabernet Franc 2015

After some rough natural wines today this was a nice reprieve and back to the basics. Easy drinking with good structure and complimentary flavors for the T-bone we had for dinner. Earthy forest notes on the nose and some blackberry and vanilla. Good structure and acidity, fine on its own but great with food. Need to get up to finger lakes soon to try some more. β€” 7 years ago

Finger Lakes Pinot Noir 2015

I feel that this is probably the best Pinot Noir producer out of the finger lakes although the competition is finally a good one. The nose has a wonderful aroma of currant a plum with undertones of spice including nutmeg and mulling spices. The palate is gorgeously light and elegant but still somewhat juicy at the same time. Flavors of plum, sour cherry and baking spice along with wonderfully balance acidity. The finish is soft and elegant with juicy fruit notes of lingering acidity. Wow... a great pairing for roasted pork. β€” 7 years ago

Check it out. We had a Cab Franc from Ravines in Maine in this summer and it was very Loire Valley esque. I ordered some and had to try to Pinot. I will get some more.
