Been a while since I had this. I seem to remember it was insanely closed last time. Fingers crossed. Nose has kirsch and cassis fruit. Some spice and pepper. Dark flowers. Seems subdued. Palate is crunchy and sappy and truly electric and fresh. Such energy. Big tannins like last time but much more fruit now and will open gloriously I think as the night goes on and the election results come in. Long finish. Dynamic structure to this wine. Wonderful fruit and density. This is awesome and has come out of its shell and is firing on all cylinders. — 8 years ago
Cassis, red fruit, vanilla, pie spice. Touch of pleasant & appropriate herbaceousness. Superfine tannins, fine to drink now. Classic Napa Cab, but without the high pH and greasy texture that sorta ruins most of them for me. #napavalley #cabernetsauvignon — 8 years ago
Elegant nose of agrumes and flowers. Greasy and warm mouth. Chardonnay, matured in oak barrels. — 9 years ago
Great & crisp without being dry. Was lovely with greasy grilled cheese sandwiches + porchetta sandwich — 9 years ago
Has to be good because it says UVA on the label. Security blankets and warm socks by the fire. Like a lover running his fingers through your hair after a long day. — 9 years ago

"… great wine dedicated to the bank executives that denied loans to us on the basis that wine is not seizable asset. One day these greasy and sweaty suits will find that the best things in life cannot be impounded." — 11 years ago
Fingers crossed after seeing the synthetic purple cork and remembering the wine board wars regarding B&H a few years back. Fortunately this bottle was excellent. Nice Cab profile with Cigar box nose. Drank well and held up over three days. — 13 years ago
Beautiful, austere, delicate. — 8 years ago
Earthy, black cherry, pepper, spices, coffee, caramel. Molten tannins, warmth and length. Nice mouth, sweet and greasy. — 8 years ago
More Petite Sirah than Pinot in style and taste profile but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Grainy tannins, black olive, smoke infused red fruits. Not at the mountain top where his Syrah and Grenache are perched but still very compelling and enjoyable to those who toss aside their pre-conceptions of what PN “should” taste like. — 8 years ago

Now I'm feelin' the highs and you're feelin' the lows
The beat starts gettin' into your toes
You start poppin' your fingers and stompin' your feet
And movin' your body while while you're sitting in your seat
And then damn! Ya start doin' the freak, I said
Damn! Right outta your seat — 8 years ago
Really good wine but expected more. Missing mid palate after opening and just muted in general. Only after 3 hrs did it start to show its potential. This isn't going to age forever but give it a few more years and cross your fingers. Very nice wine but I expect more from Haut Brion — 9 years ago

I agree with Lois. This is one of the NY Fingers Lakes Regions best reds! — 11 years ago

One of my favorite Monticello Appalachian white wines. This Apple juicy yet crisp men around he driven Pinot greasy has the right sweetness and oily texture to satisfy many moods - Best of all is the price at just $17 for 2011 vintage — 13 years ago
Really delicious and interesting smoky and floral notes to it. Kind of a greasy taste but not in a bad way, more like duck fat or acidic olive oil. Fruit is ripe and rolls off to a baking spice finish. Last Bottle app purchased. — 8 years ago
Leather, earth, flint stone and spices. Silky, warm, milky and greasy palate, lingering at lengths. — 8 years ago
This is deliciously soothing. Honey on burnt toast and raspberry jam. A non-guilty pleasure for a time when you feel perpetually guilty for not feeling guilty every second of every day about what’s happening. Escapist wine from Puglia. Purchase again as a buffer against evil. A high scorer from Eataly, I think. D: Very cherry, berry, boldish, Polish (?), spicy, ratty, matty, oily, greasy, fleecy, shining, gleaming, streaming, flaxen, waxen. — 8 years ago
Couldn’t hold my fingers of my last bottle of Eben Sadie’s old vine series 2015 vintage. This time the Treinspoor; an old vine Tinta barocca. It takes a good three hours in the decanter to really present it self, but when it does, oh what an entrance. So complex, yet so transparent. The trademark Sadie earthyness is teasing in the background while the red and black berry fruit with a good ‘ol portion of floral notes is having its fun time in the foreground. In it’s infancy at the moment, this wine will age beautifully.
9.2 today with a future in the the 9.5 range — 9 years ago
Best Moreau-Naudet wine I've had so far. Still very young, with searing acidity and tons of minerally extract on the finish. Gains richness with air, playing at the edge between saline/citrus and riper white fruits. Good wine today with a promising future. And no hint of premox - fingers crossed. — 9 years ago
Ironic that I was planning to drink this tonight and then the winery was mentioned in a book I'm reading!! A nose that smacks you right in the face! Can't put my finger on it, but it reminds me of opening brand new toys when I was little. Surprisingly light on flavor and very short though. As I said last week, the Fingers Lakes Whites are coming along! — 10 years ago
Elixir of the Provence gods. That's a kiss five fingers and explode wine. — 11 years ago
Sultry. Kinda like a chain-smoking flapper girl ordering prime rib and two fingers of whiskey at a roadhouse in Moline, Illinois. Fruity, oaky, medium-bodied and nicely balanced. The wine was good, too. — 11 years ago
Runs down the glass in fingers. Deep amber color with a light aroma that has great mellow hints of caramel and ends in a light citrus. Starts with mellow vanilla, has the smallest amount of fire in the middle, and resolves extremely neutral. — 12 years ago
This is the reason we like Gewürztraminer so much! Excellent full bodied greasy wine. At Osteria del caffè Casolani in Casole d'Elsa. — 13 years ago
