In the presence of the 17' Schönleber AdL, there should not have been another riesling that outclassed it during the night... But then this appeared. Young as it may be, KP's Hipping approaches perfection. Dumbfounding!
I think Jean and David at MFW described this perfectly, so I'll just leave it here:
This 2017er Niersteiner Hipping GG delivers a beautiful nose where reductive elements including minty herbs, smoke, bacon and needle provide the frame for some glorious scents of grapefruit, tangerine, candied lime, fresh almond and coconut. The wine has the purity and lightness of mountain water yet its complexity and density on the mid-palate are just stunning. One can feel the intensity from the high levels of dry extracts but these are magnificently wrapped into spicy and salty elements. The length and impact in the finish are stunning. The after-taste seems to last for minutes. The wine is almost painfully dry at this stage, but the sheer freshness, intensity and complexity are simply breathtaking. This grandiose expression of dry Riesling may well turn into wine perfection in a decade: It is THAT impressive! — 6 years ago

— 7 years ago
— 8 years ago

Amazing! It's like nothing I've tasted before. It's initial blackberry dense taste is like an overture to a grandiose opera. The texture of the wine is what caught me off guard - its heavy like the density of a steak in your mouth. I rated it a 9 because I should've listened and waited a couple of more years to open this ripe tannin wine. Off to buy another one and waiting 10 years. — 8 years ago

— 6 years ago

Note : What a discovery! A double grape variety between Rèze and Heida. This wine deserves all its attention especially for connoisseurs. A yellow robe that will remind us that of a Jurassian yellow wine. Its very aromatic nose with flavors of spices, exotic citrus. On the palate, a length of flavors with a grand finale. Notes of white flowers, woody, fresh. A nectar to taste!

— 7 years ago

What a beautiful and fantastic Margaux for the price. Cantenac-Brown of the town of Cantenac, in Margaux - you can see the absolutely enormous castle shown on the label from a mile out. They're right across the fields from Brane-Cantenac, which is completely overshadowed by their grandiose home.
Like their castle, their wine is grandiose in its flavor and character. Bright and fresh on the nose - red plum, red apple skin, cloves, leather, wild flowers, sandalwood, raw mushroom, and truffle on the nose. The pallet is powerful, but elegant - black currant, pepper, lavender, black cherry, vanillin, and a fresh fruit on the finish. These 2012's are great value wines that will drink well now and through at least 2030. What a great 3rd growth. — 8 years ago

Comme d'habitude grandiose — 8 years ago
First ever young wine from this terrific and overlooked site. Stunning nose. Huge slate and florals. Green apples galore. Incredibly fragrant. Wow. Lemon. But much more intense lime and lime rock candy. Confectionary and so so good. Huge palate with tons of dry extract and rocks. Terrific inner mouth aromas, with grandiose depth and awesome sap and structure. Sweet but also finishes somewhat salty. Terrific rock candy impression on the palate. Balanced and so so pure. Such a baby but just superb. As this opens up it gains tremendous elegance and refinement and the finish gets even more slatey. — 5 years ago

Remilly: terroir grandiose!!! Superbe vin, salivant, ample, profond, long! — 7 years ago
Nose is a bit mute at first. Floral. Stunning. Very pure. Excellent and complex and almost like a Viognier from Montrachet nose. It’s so grandiose and yet so retrained. Aromas. Are. Ridiculous. Tropical yet also mineral. Wow. Concentrated and so deep. Amazing textures and the salty mineral finish is a total wow. A wine of unique structure and flavor intensity. Stunning. Sappy. Spicey. It has it all. — 8 years ago
— 8 years ago

Date night in Paris at the Harvard Club in New York. The grandiose main dining room was transformed into Paris for a night where the would-be Edith Piaf singer covered all the hits. The menu was earnest in its reproduction of French classics, and as lethal as steak tartare followed by steak frites might be, "non je ne regrette rien". A Bordeaux was a must. With some age and from a brilliant year, this straightforwardly delicious wine was a nod to some of the classics from the vintage. Une belle soirée. — 9 years ago

J’adore ! — 5 years ago
