Compost on the nose, although we just opened this 6 year old bottle. So, ok. Truth time. We've had carmenere wines before and thought they were oddly flavored, off balanced, and overall not so great. Whew! Got that off my chest. This wine shows some real promise. Fully flavored with lovely red fruits, smooth tannins and silky finish. We enjoyed this and am sure it will open up. — 4 years ago

Beautiful unique bouquet of roasted almond, sour dough, and cashew nut. Surprisingly fruity, citrus note (more lemon/lime than tangerine).

On the palate, this is a refreshing wine. Briny, zesty, and herbal.

It goes so well with all kinds of food. Real underrated food wine. Most importantly, I popped this bottle about 7 months ago and I am still drinking it today. Amazingly long lasting. 90. — 8 years ago

1968 Vina Rēal Cosecha Gran Reserva Temperanillo blend. Drank this at Reddwood lunch for A&S' birthday. Hard to believe this wine was almost 50 years old. We didn't decant this and it was great- held up perfectly. Gorgeous brick color, still fruit on the nose, elegant and slightly sweet finish. So fun to try! — 10 years ago

Big and brooding. Plum, currant, toasty oak, vanilla, and mocha notes. I have long been a big fan of the Medella Real Gran Reserva. Relatively easy to find. Great price. Always reliable. It’s one of those wines that will appeal to both the newly-initiated and experienced tasters. I also love that it’s so multifaceted.
