Oh baby and I don’t mean maybe - winner winner chicken dinner - with the WNH gang on a Sunday night Italian IGT tasting via super Tuscan - this wine became commercially available wine in 1968 and since then it has risen quickly in fame - the 2015 as well as the 2016 are getting ridiculous scores from critics - like Bordeaux first growth scores - 97 plus from all - yes it a baby and as such I double decanted - i have more and I have much older vintages so this was my attempt to see what the hype was
Well the hype is real - patience is rewarded - 4 hour decant and every glass got better - in hour six this was incredible and went from a 9.5 to the 9.7 I gave it - 85% cab with 15% CF - reminds me of a great Bordeaux or great Napa blend like Continuum maybe a 2010 vintage as far as taste but leaves there and goes further - chiseled tannins integrated in a rich supple deep ruby color pushing red blue and black fruits elegantly- this could easily go another 30-40 years - and it will get better - in ten years this is 9.8 or higher - my face is broken from smiling so much! — 5 years ago

Great wine, if a port is to sweet, go with this full body, dark red wine, a hint of pepper, with a mix of Zinfandel, merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon blend. 2016 — 7 years ago
A long way to go to reach its full potential, but promising and enjoyable all the same — 8 years ago
Thanksgiving with relatives. Brother-in-law never has had an Opus One so I dug into the cellar and found my last one; a 1989 half bottle. I thought it was passed its prime but the brother-in-law thought it was wonderful! I’m not remembering where this vintage rated. Some people just like the funkiness of old wines but I just like them much younger. It was time for this one to go away and am glad some got some enjoyment out of it. His rating, not mine. I gave up on the brand several years ago, sold off my collection at a profit and haven’t looked back. I’ll try it if it is presented to me but don’t have a desire to purchase anymore. — 4 years ago
Black cherry, Chocolate, blackberry fruit, warm bodied, light flavor of sweet tobacco. Perfect wine and can’t go wrong. — 6 years ago
The 2014 Mouton Rothchild is a stunning wine that is already making its case for one of the wines of the vintage. Graphite, salted dark fruits, tar and mocha with a touch of red bell pepper all marvelously combine on the nose. Silky and marvelously textured, with an incredible complexity and viscosity, the wine shows wonderful brightness and a seamless quality that artfully dances across the mid-palate. Stunning and simply marvelous even at the five year mark, this is only an infant now and has decades of life to go. Try to resist this beauty for at least three more years. Final night of the cruise.....night ten coming to a close so we decided to go with another Special Selection.
Deep and dark purplish ruby red, completely coats the glass. Plump and rich aromas on the nose with blueberries, vanilla, cinnamon, blackberries and even some purple flowers. Rounded and integrated heavy tannins (7/10) and medium plus to full bodied. Love the blue and black fruits on the palate of this wine. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2032. — 8 years ago
This is our new go to! — 4 years ago
Love this wine! One of my go to wines! — 5 years ago
Go to wine, but price is creeping up there from late 90s . Hope to find similar profiles at better value as 300 per bottle is about 7 times what I started purchasing it. — 6 years ago
Very good - go to Costco — 7 years ago
Caymus. Panty remover for my wife. Not my taste but as California cabs go, it’s a winner. — 7 years ago
When we open from 1987, we expect everything. One thinks of its conservation in cellar, the risk that it is passed or incredible, with the tannins having evolved in this vial ... The cork pulled-out, in perfect state and one knows in advance that one hit the jackpot and that it will be phenomenal. A coppery robe, a complex nose with aromas of black and floral fruits. In the mouth, an explosion of flavors that take the length and makes us go back in time. A very large estate for an incredible wine, to fall 😍🍷 — 8 years ago
Go with both fish and meat. Slightly fizzled and light initially and evolved to complex with depth. — 9 years ago
