my comment was more for the taste than smell but cherry brandy pretty much sums it up ~ but now I'm going to have to try some and pay more attention to the smell vs taste of it!

Had this pesky damp vanilla note at first (like the one I've experienced on '10 Domain Wardy Beqaa Syrah.) But this subsided over time to reveal overripe red fruit and gripping tannin. Not sure if oak if the off-note culprit here. Very distinctive. — 8 years ago
