Santo Stefano di Neive Riserva Barbaresco Nebbiolo 1978

A real wow nose. Tar, roses, dark fruit. Beautifully concentrated and intense. Some iodine and salinity but a deep and gorgeous long palate. Amazing stuff. — 4 years ago

No longer purple, but a distinctly strawberry nose gives way to dried cherries and a finish tat lingers — 6 years ago

Super soft for some reason. Lots of vanilla almost like it was really Napa Valley Oaked up which seems unlikely given large boti? — 7 years ago

Fratelli Minuto

Riserva Speciale Barolo Nebbiolo 1964

Interesting old Barolo (1964). Still highly acidic, a little bit pruny, but good leather, tar, and earth. Served first with a lamb ragu and tagliatelle. — 4 years ago

Nebbiolo d'Alba 2015

What a beautiful wine. Surprisingly approachable and soft for a young Nebbiolo, while still showing the structure and harmony these wines are famous for. For the money, a 10! — 8 years ago

Fratelli Alessandria

Barolo Nebbiolo 2015

Very nice but for some reason not quite singing at the same level of the last bottle we had of this earlier this year. I do suggest a 2+ hour decant. Lots of cherry and a bit of dark cherry. Quite balanced with great freshness. Long finish. Tannins are a bit chunky at this point, but still a great wine with a fatty steak. — 4 years ago

Albesani Vigna Santo Stefano Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2000

BG barbaresco leads the pack. Round, rich, earthy, and full bodied. Great balance for the grape. Black cherry, cedar, and dried fruit. While not a top vintage, a benchmark that’s in its drinking window. St. Stephen will remain... — 6 years ago

Serralunga grapes (as does the 2012 vintage), deeper fruit on nose, more spice/smoke/dried meats, really nice. Well balanced. — 8 years ago

Asili Di Barbaresco Nebbiolo 1997

Soooooo great! Love it from the first sip. Just enough age on this one. Refreshing, singing acidity, a bit racy, but the freshness totally balances it out. Drinking wonderfully now! — 10 years ago
