150+ years ago Giovanni Gaja opened small restaurant in Barbaresco, making wine to complement his food. 1859, he founded the Gaja Winery. Winery has been shaped by that of Angelo Gaja. Under Angelo's direction, the the native Nebbiolo grape was elevated to world-class esteem. Ruby, rich berry fruits aromas, earthy herbs. Palate, juicy cherry and raspberry with tobacco, black pepper, leather, savory tannins, great mouthfeel on rich long finish. Needs Cellaring! Tasting Sample! — 4 years ago

First time trying a Methode Champenoise from Barolo and I’m not disappointed! Elegant and bright, light on its feet with tart cranberry and raspberry. Very dry and tons of fun! — 3 years ago

Högg den på tillfälliga hyllan på hansa. Extremt prisvärd! Rosig, bärig, kakao, bastu. Riktig len men ändå dröjande i flabben. Tanniner. — 5 years ago
The night before the night before the wedding. Burgers with Rog and Deb! Smooth, chocolate, tar! — 6 years ago
Almost frizzante, citrus (lemon), edge of salinity. I think this is mostly Arneis? Country time…tastes like that good old fashioned lemonade. — 9 months ago

The 2019 Barolo Prapò is packed with dark fruit, leather, smoke, tobacco, incense and mocha. The darker, more somber side of Serralunga comes through in this decidedly virile, imposing Barolo. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, November 2023)
