Garagiste

Corinthian

Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

So this is part of the garagiste mystery Rutherford. This is insanely superior to the afleet Alex. I would have pegged this as Rutherford dust, cigar box, tons of dried fruits, sweet maraschino cherries, vanilla, tar, basically classic Napa ala chimney rock or whomever in that region. Lovely as a change of pace. — 4 years ago

Château Bardins

Pessac- Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2011

Worth slightly more than the 20 dollars I paid the Garagiste. There’s plenty of fruit but it’s balanced out well by chalky earth and herbal notes. — 7 years ago

Cracking wine. Red fruits, spicy, little barnyard. Silky and long. Stunning! — 7 years ago

Ca' Rozzeria

Barberino Val D'Elsa Chianti Classico Sangiovese 2015

This is the private label used by Garagiste for stuff from Italy. But the cork gives away the secret. 2015 is a low acid year but this one keeps its balance. Ripe macerated cherry fruit augmented by warm gravelly earth. Classic. Medium bodied and very pure tasting. Nice intensity but so balanced. Fruit, acid, tannin. — 5 years ago

Château Clos L'Eglise

Côtes de Castillon Red Bordeaux Blend 2006

I don’t quite follow the Garagiste story of this vintage, but glad to have it for $20. Feels like it’s on the down slope of life, but still lovely at 12y. + short ribs = yum. — 5 years ago

Ca' Rozzeria

Tre Comuni Barolo Nebbiolo 2012

This is an inexpensive private label used by Garagiste. But the cork provides a clue, n’est pas? Anyway, it’s a terrific under $20 Barolo. Scents of gravel, new leather, roses, deep cherry fruit. Pure tasting, full-bodied, but with terrific acidity. Soft clingy tannins and a fairly long finish. — 6 years ago
