Galen Glen

Laurel Glen Vineyard

Sonoma Mountain Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 1986

Sweet dried redfruits and oak aromas, soft tannins, sweet fruit on palate as well, very fine acidity and depth, seems close to fully mature, but should last 3-5 years at least, kudos to Patrick Campbell, who made a lot of outstanding LG Cabernets back in the 1980s and 1990s, excellent Sonoma Mountain Cabernet!! — 15 hours ago

So bloody jealous. Have been looking for the Laurel Glen cabs from 1985-1994 for ages without success. Formative for my nascent palate in the early 90's. Can't score a bottle to save my life. F.

Laurel Glen Vineyard

Counterpoint Sonoma Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 1995

Structured and somewhat tannic still, still some primary fruit but I worry the tannins will outlast the fruit, impressive showing for the second wine of Laurel Glen, our good steaks are effectively cutting the tannins, very good Cal Cab!! — a month ago

@Ira Schwartz, I also had a 1986 Laurel Glen Cabernet next to the bottle above, will consume that soon! And, for @Tom Casagrande, this 1995 Counterpoint was 12.5% ABV!!

Gawd, I miss the old Patrick Campbell Laurel Glen efforts. Difficult to find his main label efforts.

Glen Garvald Yarra Valley Muscadelle 2021

@Delectable Wine this is the
PB White Blend No 1
Grenache blanc, marsanne and rousanne

Glen Garvald is owned and run by Levantine Hill
They just try different things, but location and winemaking is very similar.

Here we have a quite crunchy and spicy white wine. The grenache blanc puts it in the CdP area for some similarity, one for all this elegant greenish, sour grapefruit like taste, perhaps a bit of kiwi-like.
It's easy drinking, it has enough body, perhaps lacks a bit of elegance. Still a bit exuberant, i bet it will get better with time.

Glen Scotia

Double Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky

This is a perfect introduction to Glen Scotia. I’ve loved every sip I’ve taken of every Glen Scotia and this is kind of their house style and it’s most basic and straightforward form. I can’t say the “double barrel” added a huge amount of oakiness, but I prefer it that way. This features the great Glen Scotia notes of caramel, tobacco, stewed apples, brine and a little bit of smoke. A pretty amazing value. — 8 months ago

Laurel Glen

Cabernet Sauvignon 1985

Shows a little of the bell pepper aromas that I often found in older Sonoma Cabs, but nicely balanced fruit that is still quite youthful, tannins have mostly receded, drinking quite well tonight, bravo Patrick for making this gem!! — 2 years ago

Third bottle! Still surprising and good. Quite good but not overwhelmingly so for Mabel’s Hainan chicken with flavored rice. — 3 years ago
