Lovely wine to end a meal. — 10 years ago
Magnum 1999 Domaine G. Roumier Bonnes Mares burgundy. Big group lunch at The I while B&M Sh were visiting. Drank this after the 3L Gaja Barbaresco and glad we did- more complex, deeper in flavor, and bigger. This wine was absolutely perfect. Needed quite a bit of time to open up. Had that slight sweetness, but not overly so. Lots of fruit. Exactly how K enjoys a burgundy. Big wine and could definitely hold for quite a while longer. — 10 years ago
O. M. G. This is what I look for in a wine. Someone pours you a glass, you casually take a sip, and the world stops for a moment as your senses send urgent happy signals to your brain. Vintner produced 280 cases of the stuff and my sister brought a few bottles home to liven our Christmas dinner. Yum. — 11 years ago
Fruity, ripe cherry and raspberry undertones. Drinking perfectly. Not bad for a wine from a master vigneron wedged between the more celebrated G-C and C-M! — 11 years ago

O. M. G! And this is just their Valpolicella! I can only imagine the ecstasy of their Amarone. Such amazing depth, yet light and elegant. Dried red pomegranate fruit and leather on the nose, but it opens to darker depths of wild black fruits and creosote smoke on the palate, plus a bit of a briny note to a finish that goes on for-e-ver. Paired with a glazed pork chop to complete an amazing meal. TGIF!! — 10 years ago

KS, M, C, G. Deep aroma of red berries, strawberry, red pepper, pepper rose, paint, gouache, sour cranberries, cranberries, raspberries, red apple, black berries. Everything is very bright, dense and saturated. Excellent balance - light sweetness, excellent acidity, very good body. Long pleasant fruit aftertaste. A wonderful juicy and stretching wine! — 9 years ago
One of my favorite dinners was on the menu here at Chez Skip - cassoulet! And my knowledge of wine pairing is as sophisticated as a toddler eating spaghetti, I said to myself - hey I am eating French food and I like this French wine, so hey why not? And that was that. But as wine can be, it evoked its memory of when I had it first. I remember sitting out in the patio and being impressed with it. I thought to myself I could really enjoy French wines, but as history has shown, that was clearly a short lived notion.
Knowing it had been some time, I had an odd feeling, so I checked my Delectable history. Indeed, this was the very first wine I had rated!
So, to my friends, do you remember your first wine on here? Was it anything memorable? @philip Angino @Martin A. Winemaker at Troon Vineyard
84% Syrah with some Grenache, Mourvèdre and Viognier. 50% whole cluster, neutrally oak. Straight up cool climate Syrah character, even with the G&M. Brambles and dark berries. Savory characters and spiciness hit the palate first. A slight citrus acidity (cool climate Grenache my guess) comes through, white pepper, olive tapenade, tart red and blue fruit. Quite lovely - wishing for just a tad more mid-palate to round it out a bit, but a pretty wine that should be intriguing with age. — 7 years ago
