Berries and tobacco, opens up with time — a year ago
Notes of plum, earth, soy sauce. I thought tannins were still fairly pronounced but not rough. Lovely pairing with our smoked abalone and black cod….. — 3 years ago

Clay loved it. Soph liked but not as much as clay but would drink again. — 5 years ago
Fabulously surprising! This wine is one of those warm robust bear humans who wraps you in a hug that doesn’t smother you, it frees you. It’s fresh. Oodles of dark berries and plums plus vanilla and a very herbal earthy thing and something like leather. So very very good. — 6 years ago
Light bodied. Delicious with notes of licorice, but not overwhelming. — 6 months ago
Boys weekend in Detroit.
A very lifted expression of burgundy. So much focus and separation on the mid palate. Waxy lemons define the texture on the palate, which then combine with white fruits. Superb length on the finish. Moderate acidity and delicate sweetness bring home a wonderful experience from start to finish.
Even better on day two. — 8 months ago
Really a wonderful Burgundy for the always reliable (and now quite pricey) Bize. This 17 Savigny is in a great spot. High toned, balanced, refreshing acids, good mix of earth and fruit. Perfect pairing with the classic Sunday roast chicken with mushrooms. Tonight drinking better and more enjoyable than the several premier crus we have enjoyed from him in the past few years. — 3 years ago
Really incredible wine. Not paired with any food, the wine is flavorful, quenching w/ oak flavor adding the right dryness and notes of plum & vanilla to finish - really well balanced and opened well. Bottled was empty far too quickly : ) — 5 years ago
A bit syrupy on the nose but the highish abv is surprisingly well balanced. Lot of blueberry. One of the better Pinots imo but not worth the extra wait and still boring — 5 months ago

Sipping Fine Wine
Pale lemon color with aromas of stone fruits and blossom and spice, fruit from the Martinelli Charles Ranch, two miles in from the Pacific, aged for 12 months in 25% new oak. On the palate flavors of apple and pear with a touch of zesty lemon, crisp, with nitty vanilla notes. Nice mouthfeel, vivid acidity, medium+ finish ending with fruit, vanilla and citrus mineral character. Nice! — 4 months ago
