One of my favourite Champagnes. At the Come Taste the Stars Dinner hosted by Tyson Stelzer. 100% Pinot Noir. Barely a foot of top soil before the roots enter the chalk. Incredibly minerality. Egly prefers NV to vintage for the Blanc de Noirs. Disgorged 2018 with 6 years on Lees. A blend of 2010 and 2011 both average vintages incredibly. Full bodied and powerful. Stunning. Amazing value compared to the Krug Clos de Ambonnay at $4500 and 10 times the price of the Egly. — 6 years ago
Raspberry compote and ripe raspberry, almost a 'Fruit by the Foot' profile. Still some oak present, and slightly hot from the alcohol still, consistent with other Australian wines with the same bottle age. This is under screwcap, perhaps that's contributing to the freshness. Subsequent bottles should be 2020-2024. — 7 years ago
A fantastic fruity, tannic red wine. Yum!! — 8 years ago

It pains me that I can not share these German Pinots with my American friends😭😭😭😭😵😪😪😪. Really nice. Close to the 2008 I reviewed yesterday. Black currents and blackberries. Cherry and YERY powerfully elderberry characteristics another winner from this off the beating path winery. Really very aromatic and unique this would blows your socks off! 30 Euros. — 9 years ago

Located on the outskirts of the medieval town of Saint-Emilion, at the southern foot of the slope. A blend of 55% Merlot, 35% Cab Franc &10% Cab Sauv, aged in 60% new oak, deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruit accompanied by cedar & spice. The palate shows fresh ripe dark berry fruits, cacao, tobacco and espresso notes. Well balanced, perfect tannins, a joy to drink but cellar until 2022 for a better experience. A treat, paired with Colorado beef tenderloin, wilted chard, mushrooms, and parsnip purée. Big, brash tannins that stood up to the charred edges of the steak. A lot of dark fruit with a touch of (good) funk. Off the beaten path for sure...need to go find some more — 7 years ago
Great with a steak — 8 years ago
Off the beaten path from the typical Napa cab. Big on complexity with wildflowers, cassis, blueberries, blackberries, molasses, smoke, milk chocolate, and leather. Big on restraint too- light and elegant palate. Awesome stuff. Great with mountains of Greek food. 12.5%. — 8 years ago
Absolutely great with a terrific Italian dinner! — 8 years ago

Cinnamon Girl at Left Foot Charleys. Tastes and smells like an apple pie. Not overwhelmingly cinnamon — 6 years ago
Ripe flavors of black cherry and raspberry that leads to a luscious finish. — 6 years ago
Wow.....off the beaten path, and worth every penny. Earth, super soft tannins, and mellow as can be..... — 8 years ago
This wine easily won the "off the beaten path" award for me. Although having extremely expressive fruit, this wine seemed to be more intricate and less "verbose" than the 2013 Amici Estate that was sitting six inches to the right of this one. A DELICATE FLOWER! The entry seemed to be more of a black chocolate covered cherry with a hint of oregano spice. Melted almond Hershey bar over blackberry pie in the middle, and finished with a softer elegance. Really neat bottle. In a field of 16 or so wines, IMO this wine was close to being WOTN for me, and I certainly agree with the average 94.9 rating. — 8 years ago
It's time for my Friday's Cabernet fix. This time, a wonderful Chilean Cabernet.
Deep purple in color with a purplish rim.
Beautiful nose of blueberries, blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, earth, spices, peppercorn, leather, bell pepper, sage, peppermint, eucalyptus and smoke.
Full bodied with medium acidity and beautiful long legs.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, cherries, figs, cloves, herbs, earth, cola, vanilla, oak, spices, light vegetables, coffee, chocolates, bell pepper, tobacco, beef jerky and peppercorn.
Long finish with firm tannins and black pepper.
An elegant, Single Vineyard, Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile, with lots of complexity and fitness, but not fully balanced yet.
Still young now, but very enjoyable by itself, and better with BBQ Meats. I paired it with a cheese platter, crackers and nice company.
Grapes are grown at the foot hills of the Andes Mountains, on stony soils. 99% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Cabernet Franc.
