A punchy nose with struck match, honeyed lime. Stone and flint. Rick and great acidity subtly laced throughout. Excellent — 9 months ago
Big, rich, maybe just a little too ripe (as @Tom Casagrande pointed out in a note about an earlier vintage), but still a nice, solid, old vine field blend, Contra Costa County history!! — a year ago
Stone fruits and silky mouth feel. Lighter than many Talleys, but delicious nevertheless.. — 5 years ago
2016 is 83% Zin & 17% Petite Sirah. More Zin than 2015. Again, if you miss the old Prisoner this is the wine for you. — 5 years ago
Founded in 1982 by Koerner and Joan Rombauer and sits on a tree covered knoll overlooking the Napa Valley, with caves that extend for over a mile. Pale lemon color with aromas of stone and tropical fruit, sweet oak, spice and floral scents. On the palate flavors of ripe peach, melon and apple, with vanilla spice, creamy texture. Medium+ finish, well balanced with acidity, ending with mineral notes. — 5 months ago
Smooth with earth and soft dark fruits. Not many tannins — 8 months ago
First night open: 20 year old vintage— chocolate on the nose with a stone fruit finish. Tasted clean and complex with an almost immediate light evaporation in your mouth leaving you with the feeling of bubbles dissolving. Delicious. — 9 months ago
15.3% ABV Dark red color, legs, black & red fruit. Nice long finish. — a year ago
Excellent!! Full mouth feel, with a little kick at the back of the throat. At Rockfish w D&S for C’s 70th. — 4 years ago
Said in my Homer Simpson voice: “mmmm Kistler Stone Flat Chardonnay....” - cloudy hue / canary yellow diamond in color; apple seeds to the nose, alcohol, barely noticeable oak; smooth and almost caramel candy taste. — 5 years ago
2009 is perfect! And, I love these tiny bottles! — 5 years ago
This was 100% CF - no sign of age, inky, w/impressive aromas of cherry cough drop, herbaceous, white pepper, medicinal - old school vibes on nose. Bit unruly on palate, definitely felt the heat and finish had some astringency. Not a huge fan of Paso Robles fruit… Still a decent quaff and scratches itch for varietal CF. — 8 months ago
Lemon oils and spring flowers combine with white peach as the 2023 Chenin opens in the glass. This is a beautifully balanced effort, with crisp orchard fruits, sour melon and crunchy mineral tones complemented by candied citrus. It finishes remarkably clean yet with admirable length. $25.00 (Eric Guido, Vinous, August 2024) — 10 months ago
Medium gold, heavy in the glass. Awesome aged Raveneau nose. Notes of citrus, kimmeridgian white stone and light colored dirt, some honey, some spice. Great mouth feel, with acidity that powered up over 4-5 hours. Awesome with some angel hair pasta and shrimp, looking out over the Kohala Coast. — 4 years ago
2015 - Luscious honey nectar like bouquet, golden hue, medium heavy body, slightly acidic, pineapple notes, medium long finish. — 5 years ago
