Deep garnet hue, tertiary, sweet/sour, energetic acid for its aged character, lingering dusty tannin and amaro spice. Old leather, dried and stewed cherry/plum fruit, dust, porcini, animal hide, hung meat, cigar wrapper, bitter roots, bitter cocoa powder, wet earth, mulch, rotting leaves. Love its chewy and upfront impact on the palate. Very complex and very drinkable — 7 years ago

Golden in color. Little aroma if not none. Dried fruits, butterscotch and candy jam. — 8 years ago
Pomegranate, frozen strawberries, cranberry concentrate, rhubarb, white pepper, raspberry tea. Snapping acidity, light medium bodied, juicy texture, minimal crunchy tannin presence, long fruity slightly smoky finish. Aromatic, alpine freshness persists, as evolved as schiava/vernatsch/trollinger gets. — 8 years ago
All bright flowers and red fruit. Ethereal and lovely. — 6 years ago

Nice hazy orange hue. Stro g smell of lemonheads candy- kind of a dark saccharine sweet. Some scent of lily or jasmine. Taste is tart apple cider (and the look is too). Low tannins. Goes will with variety of food. Taste is more fruity and floral with a slightly blunt bitter end. Smell and taste on different wavelengths and it's wonderful. Recommend. Good buy for the vintage. — 8 years ago
A fantastic aged Riesling that barely shows its 23 years of age. The nose was fresh and crisp with just a kiss of marmalade from the botrytis, however there was no notion of petrol which is all but unheard of for an old Mosel Riesling. The palate was gently sweet, almost like a young Kabinett but the complexity and richness of the wine was all old Auslese. — 8 years ago
How do you not love these Alto Adige wines? Light garnet in the glass with thin edges and a soft violet undertone. And what to say about this nose? Gorgeous red fruits, strawberry lemonade, fresh herbs, and a definite floral influence. I know and love Lagrein but I’m a relative newcomer to Schiava. Striking a nice balance between rustic earthiness and wonderfully bright fruit, this charms with simplicity but there’s a lot more to it beneath the surface. Deliciously feminine and supremely dry, the luscious mouthfeel leads to a textured palate. Cranberry, ripe cherry, and wild strawberry mingle with allspice and underbrush. If you can’t tell, I love this wine. And so should you. — 6 years ago
