Diverse #wine. #Nebbiolo from #Roero. Closed, cloudy and smelling of robust cherries, and bacon fat, oil. Opened up to soft pink flowers, candy apple shell, wet soil. Color is slightly cloudy as unfiltered, bright red throughout from edge to edge. Everything opened over an hour. Flavors of soft strawberry, marachino cherry, candy apple, sweet/sour sauce, smooth. Tannins never explode, but stay moderate, harmonious with acidity. Opened 1/22/17 — 8 years ago
Here’s a cool one: Picotener is a sub-varietal of Nebbiolo that actually performs better than the average in more extreme conditions. This is an experimental wine and it’s a home run in my eyes. You can taste the youth on the vines, but when it picks up, I can totally see this being a new age version of my favourite grape for the future. Has a lot of the flavour characteristics that I love about Nebbiolo (roses, cigar box, cherry), but a more youthful fruitiness. Im a fan. Hope it catches on. — 4 years ago

Orange color. Super savory. Some honey and oaky/sherry vibes. Delish.
