Caymus Vineyards

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Young but absolutely promising. Drinks well now and will evolve even more in years to come. Fruit heavy, nice residual sugar mouth feel. — 7 months ago

Dom Pérignon

Brut Champagne Blend 2006

A blend of a tad more Chardonnay than Pinot Noir, nice lemon yellow color with golden edges, aromas of fruit, spice and brioche notes, nice mousse and bubble flow. On the palate flavors of fresh fruit, peaches, pineapple and ripe lemon with hints of toasted nuts and citrus zest. Long finish ending with rich briny yeasty mineral character. Drinks well now but will go another 10+ years! — 9 months ago

Corison

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2004

Decant for sediment and pour(decent chunky/fine sediment). A remarkable murky magenta color with bricking. On the nose: beautiful nose of stewed black fruit/currants, floral, herbaceous, burnt embers, spearment. Taste: classic old school Napa, juicy, balanced, savory wine with dark cherry, baking spice, smoke, sweet tobacco and a nice long earthy cocoa finish. YUM! Drinks well at year 20 and glad to have another bottle. — 3 months ago

Beaulieu Vineyard

Reserve Tapestry Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 1997

David T
9.4

More advanced than other 97’s I’ve had. Still grit with flowers. Always get a touch of Cognac from the mid 90’s BV Tapestry’s. Less on the 97. Beautiful, ripe, foral fruits with spice, barrel toast with evolution & integration. Incredible structure, balance. Violets for days. Still has 5-8 years.

This bottle on auction are more advanced than my bottles or others bought at auction. This is just around it’s precipice where other bottles I’ve had required more time. Another 8 years. This is more within 3 years. I would add that a 1997 94 points rating greatly over shadows a young(ish) vintage of the same. Just gets better and better with each sip.

1997 the vintage of our modern times. This wine was about $25 on release, give or take. Today, it drinks like a $100 plus bottle of Napa Cabernet.

A particular bottle, that you know, we adore here as well.

Marchesi Antinori

Tignanello Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 1988

Birthday year wine for me! Might not be the best Tig vintage, but nothing to scoff at. The ‘88 is getting to be almost last prime, this time bottle showing well. Rusty red with strong aromas of cigar box, leather, and pencil shavings. Drinks slightly thin, and im not getting much fruit. Still, it’s tasty and a special vintage to me. — 3 months ago

Ridge Vineyards

Lytton Springs Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel Blend 2013

2019 Ridge Lytton Springs is a classic California field blend. It is made up of 73% Zinfandel, 16% Petite Sirah, 9% Carignane, and 2% Mataro. The vineyard is located in Dry Creek Valley in Sonoma County. Dark red fruit on the nose with a bit of spice. Brambly intense fruit on the palate. Supple tannins. Really nice acidity and a lengthy finish. Drinks well now and will likely be even better in a few years. — 8 months ago

Blend of 79% Cab Sauv, 15% Merlot, 3% Cab Franc, 3% Petit Verdot, deep Ruby, concentrated aromas, ripe black fruit, cedar, subtle nutty spice & creamy chocolate. On the palate flavors of plum, blackcherry & dried blackberry, with oak, cacao and herb vanilla.
