IMO, MG makes one of the absolute best Clos Vougeot’s. This one drank very youthful and primary but all the material is there for this to be a fantastic bottle down the road. It showed much more producer and vineyard than it did the vintage. There was none of the overt greenness that you can often get with 2011’s. Along with Rousseau, Dujac and Tremblay, MG’s 2011’s are very impressive.
After an initial shyness it does reveal itself after a multi hour decant and begins to waft from the glass with aromas of dark fruit, florals and spices. On the palate it’s deep, elegant and pure with fine grained tannins, excellent focus and delineation. But you can tell it wishes to resume its slumber. It often went back and forth from showing great fruit expression to then aromas of woodsmoke and savory herbs. But the herbal qualities are not at all off putting and just add to complexity. I would love to check in on this again with more bottle age. It is clear that it will have a lot to offer those with more patience than me. — 5 years ago

This may go down as red wine of the year for me. Which given the time of year and upcoming events is High Praise indeed. But none the less reality. Epic nose. The unmistakable smell of a slaughterhouse over summer. Meat and blood. A huge hit of licorice, leather, and smoke and cherries. The Finish lasted nearly a minute, and had a Mossy granite tone to it that reminded me of climbing in the gunks in the fog. Amazing. So fortunate to have been asked to share this with great friends. #poolwine — 8 years ago

Forest like aroma. Making me calm. A bit sweet. Strawberry. Violet. Acidity. Sourness. Complexity in aroma taking me to the deep forest area. 2017 @1760, Datong - XH, 200812-201017 — 5 years ago

Lemon and hint of soft mineral with good structure. — 7 years ago
Dark ruby violet. Blackberry, graphite, and a slight herbal note on the nose. Dense and concentrated red and black fruits on the palate with prominent, chunky tannins and long, gravelly finish. Blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot fermented with native yeasts then aged 19 months in 50% new French oak. Made by Diana Snowden wife of Jeremy Seysses of Domaine Dujac in Burgundy. Would undoubtedly benefit from more time in the bottle. 14.5% ABV. $50. — 8 years ago
On a night of relatively rare wine, this takes the cake and is basically a unicorn. This particular bottle of Dujac’s Marc de Bourgogne was opened several months prior. It pours a dull bronze color. On the nose, a fascinating combo of Comice pear, apricot, ginger, graham cracker and honey. Not for the faint of heart, there is so much power in the glass. After all, it’s nearly, 90 proof! Drink now and for eternity, basically. — 10 months ago
Scarlet color, almost opaque. Fruity, stemmy nose. Notes of dark fruit, bing cherries, moist soil, herbs and spice. Vibrant in the mouth. Silky sweet fruit but not over the top. Nice balance and structure. Really good. If i was tasting this blind I could see someone steering me towards a young Dujac guess. — 3 years ago

Virtual tasting sponsored by Sage Society with Jeremy Seysses of Triennes and Dujac. My first virtual tasting. Really fun and interesting. Wine was well balanced with nice acidity, ginger, red fruit., light bodied. We also tried the Viognier, which was linear and precise, and the Saint August’s Cab-Syrah blend, which was a bit reduced but opened up in glass. — 6 years ago

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple hours. The 2017 M-S-D Blanc pours a straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with fascinating notes of champagne cake, Comice pear, lemon zest, almond, and limestone earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long; laden with limestone minerals and grippy. Almost as if it is tannic! This is such a distinctive wine. I’m in love. Drink now through 2032. — 8 months ago
