Domaine Des Quatre Pierres

Ermitage du Pic Saint Loup

Tour de Pierres Coteaux du Languedoc Pic St. Loup Grenache Blend 2021

I hadn't had this wine in a couple of vintages and I always have had a sweet spot for it. It's a bit more austere and serious than previous vintages I tasted, and a bit more complex too.
Licorice, blackberry, leather, a touch of mint, some Cola notes and some heat... Wow it's a serious nose, a lot let's playful and fruitful than in my memories. The palate shows a great acid drive, some serious grip, some width, some matter on the edges, a nice blackberry note through and through, along with, again, these Cola notes that I usually associate with natural gamays from the Beaujolais region, some grippy tannins kick off in the rear, powering a long, fruity, grippy finish that lasts for a very long time. These tannins tend to make the wine a bit more austere and complex but the Cola notes remind you it's an organic, natural wine style too. I like it very much. And this is the entry level cuvée of this Domaine!

YUM. This is exactly what I want in my Gamay - barely effervescent, a little funk and super juicy. #shouldhavebought2 — 6 years ago

Les Pierres Dorées Pinot Noir 2016

A French Pinot Noir, which is interestingly grown in Beaujolais. Begins with a welcome balance of fruit and earth on the nose with raspberry and cranberry along notes of mushroom and black pepper.  These flavors continue onto a very well balanced palate which has an a lively vein of acidity running though it. A perfect pairing with creamy truffle steak penne! [4/29/23] ($35) — a year ago

Custardy nose with lots of confectionery aromas and gras. Lovely sea breeze minerlity and amazing depth. So good. Palate is rich and oily but with great freshness and opulent pit fruits like peach, apricot and tangerine. Creamy and ripe but so sappy and pure. Long, oily finish. Exceptional. — 7 months ago

Les Pierres Plates Reuilly Pinot Noir 2018

Laura’s 2018 from Chambers most recent box on 1/20/2021. Very nice — more complex than past. Granny Smith apple, limestone, bright — but a layer of sultryness and lush mouthfeel. Citrus. Ripe cantaloupe all the way to green skin. A tad alkaline. Warmth, Wohlgefühl. — 3 years ago
