Morey St. Denis Pinot Noir 2016

I decided to revisit a bottle that was the winner of our horizontal tasting of MSD 2016 village (10 producers tasted blind by 10 participants). And once again this is a hit for a village. Lots of complexity, licorice, spices and red fruits... more than satisfactory length for this level of appellation. — 4 years ago

Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2002

Soft and approachable. A bit of butterscotch on the nose. Beautiful looking but lacks some of the pure fruit I'd hope for. Good, but not profound. — 8 years ago

Very approachable somewhat of a modern style dark extracted but showing some great mouthfeel and texture at this point. Good but not great

Lovely! Complex and bright with the terroir coming through more with every taste. I loved this wine and found it to be an incredible value for the price point! — 4 years ago

Bel-Air Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2014

Dark fruited built on an acidic framework with firm but fine tannins. Interesting reductive ( in a good way) for a house that is reputed to use little sulfur. But this 1er has chops for sure (my first experience with Bel-Air), which immediately confirms that its neighbors are all quite “grand”! — 5 years ago

Great nose. Open for a young bottle. And yet another Charlopin wine into my notes. Always seen the name, never had a taste. Thanks Weygandt. — 8 years ago

Cuvée Vieilles Vignes Gevrey-Chambertin Pinot Noir 1995

Still a very robust wine. Not in the least past its prime. There’s a lot of fruit left, but there’s also a lot of oak., even after 26 years. This has dried out the wine a little bit. Don’t make too much out of my criticism. The wine is very enjoyable, so the bottle was finished without any complaints from my friends at the table.

Vosne-Romanée Pinot Noir 2015

Started out very farmy and rustic. After an hour had beautiful cherry, raspberry, medium tannins, could taste and smell the whole cluster as there was slight tomato and green herbaceous notes. — 5 years ago

Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2010

Give it 20-30mins to open up and try to keep the temp cool. Keeps the fruit and flavors very concentrated. Has that little smokiness/toasty that we fell in love with Charlopin wines for backed up by dark cherries. — 6 years ago
