Sweet black cherry liqueur on the first glass (after one, the liqueur effect begins to fade), ripe cranberry, raspberry, cooked rhubarb, black & red licorice together, dry cranberry, tar, black earth, minerals and smoked meats. Baking spices; cinnamon, vanilla. Sticky resolved tannins that coat your mid plate. Woody with tobacco leaf. Enjoy with a steak or good meat sauce with or without truffles. Drink now and for at least another 10-15 years. Perhaps, even beyond. Think the score could inch up to a 9.6 with some additional aging. — 9 years ago

Wow! Such a cool wine. Ruby in color, remarkably complex nose of dried roses, pepper, cranberries, an edge of balsamic,and herbs. The palate follows nose, except that it's not over ripe like the balsamic notes would suggest.
