Esprit de Tablas Adelaida District Mourvedre Blend 2022

The V.2022 Esprit de Tablas is the flagship red blend of 40% Mourvèdre, 28% Grenache, 22% Syrah, 4% Vaccarèse, 3% Cinsaut and 3% Counoise selected from the top 6-estate-grown varieties propagated from budwood cuttings from the Château de Beaucastel Estate in Rhône, France.

An absolute crowd-pleaser in all aspects; the nose welcomes aromatic dark red fruits, black forrest, earthy and spices. As for the palate, it is rich and bold, yet fruit-forward slightly juicy with a hint of licorice, minty and lushy. Great acidity and structure with progressive tannins towards the back-end. Loved the texture and some sweet spices by the very end.

The perfect wine to wind down a long week. Bright fruit flavors of raspberry, strawberry, rhubarb, and a bit of cherry cola also. Fun and casual. 100% Counoise. 4/7/23. — 3 years ago

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhône Blend 2016

WOW!!! Incredible new vintage of this outstanding wine! Herbs, Leather, smoke, vanilla with a hint of barnyard on the nose. That said, lots of blue and black fruit flavors on the pallet. Full bodied and luscious. Long and lingering finish. This is a wine of the year candidate! Revisited during Christmas week 2019. Noted the blend is 30% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah. 10% Counoise with the balance being made up of some of the other 10 permitted CDP grapes. Just brilliant! Revisited in August 2021. Improving with age! Revisited again in December 2023. Tannins are starting to mellow. Drinking beautifully! Revisited again in January 2025. Hitting the sweet spot. — 6 years ago

Patelin de Tablas Paso Robles Rosé Grenache Blend 2024

This is a rosé blend of 68% Granache, 28% Mourvèdre, 3% Vermentino, and 1% Counoise, that delivers a full tradition of Provence with a fruit sourced from the 9 top Tablas Creek Rhône-styled vineyards in Paso Robles AVA. It provides a bright strawberry fruit, a hint of rose petals and lemongrass notes on the nose.

As for the palate, it gets stimulated with an amazing fresh acidity all combined with some soft spices, mandarin peel, fresh apricot, and unripe berries. The mouthfeel has a subtle peachy tones on the mid-range and grapefruit with some light salinity by the back-end. Joyful wine to welcome summer!

I called Bordeaux blend but new world. It is mostly mouvedre which was surprising. Then Grenache and only 3% Syrah. Liked it a lot, just a bit surprising. — 2 years ago

Esprit de Tablas Mourvedre Blend 2022

Reddish in color with medium intensity.

Red fruits on the nose with light wood and chocolate notes.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with raspberries, strawberries, cherries, light oak, spices, chocolates, licorice, tobacco leaf, earth, coffee and peppercorn.

Spicy on the long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a really young Rhone style red blend from Paso Robles. Fruit forward with nice complexity and a soft mouthfeel. Spicy and tangy.

Good right out of the bottle and better with after 90 minutes of airtime. Will continue to age nicely in the next 5 to 7 years.

Well balanced and easy drinking. Good by itself or with food.

A blend of 40% Mourvedre, 28% Grenache, 22% Syrah, 4% Vaccarese, 3% Counoise and 3% Cinsault.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

$70.
