Tasted blind. Tawny color, translucent with amber rims. Notes of black cherry, cedar, some spice and a little barnyard floor. Sweet fruit in the mouth, with tannins fully resolved. Guessed 1955 Calon Segur. Perfect looking bottle, the cork revealed this bottle was reconditioned by the Chateau in 2000. — 7 years ago
Another level... Still dense at the core, with steady, attractive bricking: Wonderfully dense nose of blackcurrents, pencil shavings, fine tanned leather, and a hint of woodland floor (fine moss, leaves, and fresh soil after an autumn shower). Velvety tannins and great acidity. Along with the '66 this is one of my all-time favourite Bordeaux vintages. Seems to be keeping up better than the '61s I've had over the last few years!
We drank half of it from the coravin before waxing the top in case the cork had lost too much elasticity to self-seal. I'll have the rest with my brother in a few weeks' time! — 9 years ago
Yes, you can make a Manhattan with Irish.... — 10 years ago
Fantastic drink! Still great fruit. The cork was in good shape, opened with oso. — 10 years ago
Peach, strawberry, little bit of nuttiness, lees and citrus. Pretty wine. — 10 years ago
Mellowed bananas and roasted nuts. Very smooth. Jameson as it could be — 11 years ago

Classic Cheval. A beautiful Bordeaux from the moment the cork came out. — 6 years ago
Drank 2017 from Cork 2018 on 22 Sep 2019. Light sweet zingy as is natural. — 6 years ago
Preferred this slightly over the Green Spot. Much more smooth, lovely nose, hints of honey. Delicious. — 7 years ago
Smooth and full bodied mild hint of chocolate — 8 years ago
1979...decanted ~1hr and doesn't need a longer decant. Still some fruit here but brilliant menthol and smokiness. Light body despite bold red color. Enjoyable but after 2.5 hrs had definitely faded. Careful with the cork though too. — 9 years ago
From magnum with low shoulder fill. Appropriately branded cork came out intact. Dark reddish purple, opaque. Reddish orange rims. Heavy nose of leather saddle, blackberries, cranberries, dark unsweetened chocolate, walnuts, and some old wine funk. Fruit forward in the mouth and very rich. Structure, acidity and fruit all still perfectly balanced. With air it improved over 6 hours, and new notes like menthol and quarry stone in the nose were noted. This wine is probably not going to get better, but should be fine in the near term to hopefully show like this big boy did tonite. — 10 years ago
Glass cork. Cool! — 10 years ago
2nd bottle in 2 mos - still very good despite low fill/soaked cork. — 10 years ago
Birthday wine. After 25 yrs this pretty Cab is holding up very well. Clean w dark fruits, mint and some spice. Cork did crumble but was able to salvage. @SilverOak memorable wine. — 11 years ago
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! — 7 years ago
Brilliant stuff, first time with this one but a real winner, round full flavour with a little fizz in the mouth — 8 years ago
Label was very very new looking. Questionable as to real or not. Cork is correct. Wine us correct. On the way out but just won't leave. Brown to rust color. Better as it went on. Light fruit. Amazingly long Finish. Wow. — 9 years ago
Cork disintegrated, but otherwise no concerns. Very restrained with more fruit showing as it took on air. Looking forward to seeing how the rest of the bottles age. — 9 years ago
With a 2" depressed cork and questionable fill, we were all hesitant with our expectations, to say the least. Let me be clear: this wine was beautiful. Such an experience to taste a 61 year old wine that still has life in it. Liquid music, poetry you can taste, or whatever artistic production you want to draw upon, this wine was as captivating as a live performance. This was light garnet in color without any brown, with open aromas of soy sauce, cranberry jam, truffle, potting soil, dried prune, green tea, and black coffee, the wine's structure said Here, let me show you these flavors, like a welcoming dinner party host who isn't over-trodden about anything that just puts you at ease. Wines like this are art in a bottle. — 10 years ago

I'd get to drinking your 97's now. Good...great actually but beginning to lose a lot. Cork was quite soft on mine. Flavor...like California...but smoother ;-) — 10 years ago
Truly special stuff — 11 years ago
Perfect after extracting the crumbly cork. Perfect balance at peak I only have two more bottles of this. — 13 years ago
Mono Head
Wax was hard to get off. Essentially scrapped it off. Before cork even came out I could start smelling the wine. I thought it would be corked. Cork melted off even with an ah so. First sip just had a little bit of funk but overall very drinkable. Much like a French Bordeaux. Fruit is muted, dry. Dark fruit finish. Smell definitely is dry and has an older funk, herbal, medicinal - not in a negative way. Would have loved to seen how it would have done decanted but had no time. — 5 years ago
