Tonight’s wine club gathering was extra special due to the fact that each selection put forward for tasting had a unique and special story behind it; each wine had a “near and dear” element to it that made tasting it all the more enjoyable while the stories surrounding them were told.
This selection and vintage holds special meaning for me. The memories associated with it are truly sweet. So elegant and beautiful; once the funk blew off after about an hour in the decanter the true nature of the wine blossomed. Savory notes of molasses, plum, and fig married with the cool, intoxicating aromas of eucalyptus and mint laced in dark, sweet, dusty fruits. So delicious. I’m thankful I have a few more of these in the cellar. — 8 years ago
Mature cool climate Chardonnay. Penfolds Whites are starting to gain the reputation of their illustrious Red offering. After 6 years funk is replacing the Flint of a few years ago. Nice stone fruit notes and long. Enjoyable. — 10 years ago

Fuck. Cool. — 10 years ago
Leather vanilla. Cardamon little heavy oak leads to spiciness, cool inkiness. Longish finish really good balance limited acidity. Moderate tannin tobacco. Seems peak. — 10 years ago
Young, cool vintage but incredible balance. Can't wait to try it again in 10 or 20 years! — 11 years ago
Serve cool NOT cold to make the acid POP.
My guys say.... Lighter bodied dry white. Drinks reminiscent of a fine) fino sherry with a light briney nutty flavor (salted nutz? :) and a squeeze of lemon. Roasted fish, octopus, saganaki. — 11 years ago
Crazy-cool nose of black dusty soil, smoked beef, dried herbs, and black fruit. A lot of acidity and tannin, more than expected. Really good. — 13 years ago
