Visiting again this splendid Paulliac from the 2011 vintage. 2011 vintage was labeled as mediocre in Bordeaux and this lovely wine showed that it is actually a classic vintage with some great wines, so trust the chateau not only the vintage. The nose is tempting with notes if coffee, earth, oak, cassis, black fruits and hints of chocolate, the body is full with round tannins, acidity is splendid and finish is long. My score 92, drink to 2026, perhaps longer — 6 years ago
Vino con mucho sabor, acido, seco y limpio final. — 10 years ago
What can you say, classic Reims crisp and tart. This NV is as consistent as they come. — 10 years ago
Light and dry. Tart hints of lemon and a mild grassy flavor. Great wine for the value. — 5 years ago
Mature, elegant, harmonious wine that has aged well. Distinctive tertiary notes in the wine give this a definite Old World personality despite having that classic core of fruit even restrained wines take on in Napa. I bet this was singing on its 20th Birthday. — 7 years ago
Always a classic. Great value — 7 years ago
I think i will always enjoy this wine. So classic. So well done. — 9 years ago
Oddly, better on it's own than with the lamb. With the lamb, it gave off an astringent, moldy cellar quality. On it's own; cream blackberries/raspberries, dark cherry liqueur, semi-cooked rhubarb, mushroom, dark earth, saw dust, hay, clay pot, leather, vanilla and a classic Spottswoode elegant finish with a touch of funk. To be fair, I'm about 3 years late on enjoying the 95. However, still an enjoyable wine 20 years later. — 9 years ago
Classic Napa Cad from a great vintage. Not particularly memorable but a pleasure to drink. — 10 years ago
Super year — 11 years ago
4 yrs in oak, 4 yrs in bottle, 10% gracriano for acid and ageing, 90% temp
C:Garnet, med int,
A: med + int, cooked straw, chocolate, choc, tobacco, leather hints, aniseed, cloves, complex, vanillin obvious,
P: quite conc, long length, lovely rubber temp finish, soft tannins. spice, strawberry and mocha flavours persist.
Great classic wine with lots of concentration from a great year suggesting much more potential to come. 35 Euros.. Good value. Fab wine. Fully expect more tertiary flavours and complexity to come in time. — 6 years ago
Such a pretty wine which has shed severe tannins and reveals classic mature Bordeaux flavors. After an hour it opened up a lovely aromatic of muted red fruit and earthy tones. Finish had rolling and palate coating flavors with a very nice finish. Drink now for the pleasure it gives. — 7 years ago
Amazing 2009. Very Classic and clean. — 9 years ago
Cut grass, earth. Medium Tannins, long finish. Pretty classic Chinon profile but with added elegance. — 10 years ago
