Very much like this Pinot. They managed to achieve a wine with a lot of flavors but not overextracted and complimented with decent backbone. — 6 years ago

Beau Terre Vineyard Merlot 2006

Back to school special! Waiting for the sliders to finish grilling off the egg and we will be set. Nice strong tannins balanced with that deep cherry. Will go better with the food as it is a beefy merlot... The way Merlot should be.
As expected, the meat balances the strength of this wine. It aged well over 10 years holding the fruit and gaining depth of tannins.

Very good but I'd like to see (my broken record wants) a bit more flavor depth, and a little less soft cherry on the close. Then again I'm getting greatness on the nose, so maybe this will improve. — 9 years ago

Big brooding nose of dark cherry, burnt balsam wood and bourbon. Big wine that needs more time as the tannins still block out some of the nuance. I think this will get a lot better. All the components are there — 10 years ago

Chappellet wine dinner. I've not had much of their wines and wanted to see if they are worth a visit when we are out for our yearly Napa trip in February!

The big boy 💪🏼. Deep ruby core in the glass that approaches black in color. Aromatics aren't massive, but it even smells refined. Black cherry, baking spices, powerful tannins. Lush fruits on the palate. Finish is very strong and lasts almost a minute. No doubt a wine that can go the distance. Easily go up 1-2 points in a few years.

@Shay Aldriedge I really like the PH. I was first introduced to it many years ago as an affordable alternative to the Bryant Family Vineyards cabernet. Spot on! Same terrior, same flavors. Nice wine!

I agree with Paul. PH is a minimum 10 year hold in good vintages. I'm still holding my 04 Signatures that are not ready.

Hey @Shay Aldriedge. @Chappellet_wine
is awesome. The wine and the winery. They put on a good show there. Bring you into the cellar for the tasting then you tool around the vineyard a bit. It's a good time. Fun fact - the wine barrels on my profile pic are from the Chappellet cellar.

Lynmar Estate

Quail Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir 2012

A rich deep Ruby red with aromas of dark berry fruit, and rustic spices. The 100% Pinot Noir wine was aged on French oak for 14 months, (35% new) before bottling in December 2015. On the palate, the wine was medium+ in weight and shows sweet cherry, plum and blackberry. The Pinot had velvet tannins encircled by lively acidity and a touch of pepper and gentle oak giving the wine tremendous depth and balance. An elegant wine that with great length on the finish. Extraordinary! Only 828 cases were produced! — 9 years ago
