Overly cold unfortunately which mutes much of the flavour you would expect from this 1er Cru from the excellent 2014 vintage for white burgundy made by the baby faced assassin Henri Boillot. I might add to this note once it has warmed up. Very lemony. — 9 months ago

The 2019 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has a very elegant bouquet of red berry fruit, briar, crushed stone and rose petal, and is, so it turns out, Very Rousseau-like in style. The palate is medium-bodied with filigree tannins, a silver bead of acidity and plenty of energy, with wonderful tension and verve toward the finish. This is a Charmes-Chambertin with great pedigree and will give many years of drinking pleasure. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, December 2023)

Intoxicating nose that can be smelled across the room and one that is quintessential Dujac. It’s juicy with dark fruit and whole bunch spice and there is a surprising level of ripeness and concentration for the vintage. It’s finely detailed and delineated with a silky texture, big structure and excellent length. Open for business. — 3 years ago
Apple that had begun to rot in the cider bin (in a good way!) minerals and balanced oak integration. A very long and complex finish. — 4 years ago
Brought by a friend from his cellar. Popped and poured. The 2016 “Les Charmes Dessus” pours a bright yellow color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with rather powerful notes of tropical fruits: pineapple and passion fruit with some lemons, honeysuckle, caramel, limestone minerals and subtle baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and grippy, slightly chalky. There is a very attractive, creamy texture too. A very lovely wine that works pretty darned well with octopus carpaccio. Drink now through 2031. — 4 months ago
Two hour decant and wine went well with the yakiniku. Typical Serafin Charmes — 9 months ago

2002 vintage. Perfect fill and cork. Decanted and tasted multiple times over the course of 2.5 hours. Almost zero sediment. Medium body. Thrust/concentration initially all frontal palate with some transition to the mid-palate after 45 minutes. Finish throughout was left a bit wanting. Big tamarind, sandalwood, menthol (molasses after an hour in the decanter) and Fruit Stripe gum just before the flavors absolutely drop out early on. Some grape fruit wrap along with tobacco and leather in hour number two. Let's face it...this was opened a decade too early. Obvious pedigree in definite need of a 5-6 hour decant for those insisting on drinking this now. Revisit after 2032. 2.23.24. — 3 months ago
