Haut-Bailly Dinner in SF with Veronique Sanders of Haut-Bailly.
The 2010 is an excellent vintage but, it is for the later part of your life or your children.
This is drinking beautifully with a 4 hour decant. The structure & tension are just starting to their softening stage. The length and balance are in the forget about it range and will just get better & better. Ripe, stunning fruits of; blackberries, dark cherries, black raspberries, plum & a touch of blue fruits. Moist clay & top soils, stones, mint, graphite, fresh tobacco, dark cola, anise to black licorice with stunning, withering floral bouquet. Acidity is perfect. The finish is everything you want in a Bordeaux.
Definitely a 99-100 point wine in 15 years plus.
Served with the Cheese Plate; Red Hawk, Hop Along & Roquefort. @Mathilde French Bistro

At first this Alsacian wine presented huge lees characteristics, then opened up with Meyer lemon, peaches, and yellow flowers. An oiliness on the palate, coating and lasting. Paired exceptionally with both Roquefort cheese and a white asparagus, mushroom quiche. — 8 years ago
Medium bodied, excellent sipping wine. Minor tannins of berries, violets and vanilla, with a subtle spicy finish. — 9 years ago
Loved this, a real favourite. A saline treat! — 4 years ago
18.5 deep brown, v complex nose, unctuous, very long. Aperitif, after dinner, with salty cheeses (Roquefort!). — 5 years ago

One of the best whites I've had in many a moon. Happy Easter! — 8 years ago
Bright red fruit and floral nose. Candied, but elegant. Very nice — 9 years ago
2012 vintage. Alexandre de Malet Roquefort (owner of Premier Grand Cru Classé La Gaffelière, Chapelle d'Aliénor Bordeaux Supérieur and co-owner of the tiny Pomerol estate La Connivence) bought this estate in 1999. In my experience his wines are very reliable and classic, elegant and never overextracted. This medium-bodied Saint-Emilion (90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon) is a solid effort for the vintage (that generally fared much better for Merlot than Cabernet Sauvignon). Strawberry fruit and very subtle oak, freshness and balance. Drinking well now, but I feel there is more room for improvement. A nice wine nearing maturity. The only "problem" is that for the price (21,9 euro) you can buy the delicious 2015 second wine of La Gaffelière. — 5 years ago
1 of 2 byob choices with classic French bistro food (gem salad with Roquefort & hazelnuts, my friend had delicious Baked trout with crispy skin). A real eye opener: classic Fume smoky nose & such an elegant mouthfeel. Pitch perfect balance. Damn. — 6 years ago
White Bordeaux. Sweeter side. Not too acidic. Smooth. — 7 years ago
@délectable : CRI domaine st Martin des champs ! Rien à voir
@Xavier Davila : hyper bon en fait ! On ne l'a pas bu au bon moment. C'est une vendange tardive. Au top sur le roquefort. — 8 years ago
Was absolutely amazing. Depth yes, but fine and mineraly. Had it at the end of the meal at Pascals, with a roquefort cheese drizzled with honey. — 8 years ago
Quite a strong and dry cab. Would pair great with a Camembert or Roquefort — 9 years ago

Typically shy Vermentino on the nose with Mediterranean herbs but everything but on the palate. Taut & clean with great tension between the shy fruit & herbs and the beautiful mineral salinity. Great caracter and sense of place and at 12% alc this is such sheer drinking pleasure. A brilliant white! — 4 years ago
