Absolutely complete: balanced and elegant! I could have let this go another couple years. Almost 6 years from harvest, this gem benefited from even rising and 5% RS...even so, the acids were like cashmere :) — 7 years ago

Pure crushed rocks and exotic fruits. Awesome cashmere texture. — 6 years ago
Stony minerality of chardonnay meets complex fruit of muscat and viogner. Quite delish! — 7 years ago
When your brain detangles and you feel the cashmere cushion of understanding yourself. When your thoughts easily find their way into good words then fine sentences and finally you have a colourful string of beads that form narrative. Fluid ideas full of feeling. It’s circular and it’s ending could be it’s middle and its middle could be it’s beginning. Endless boundaries, no resistance. Care and ease. — 8 years ago

Love this! Smooth, easy drinking. — 7 years ago
This bottle is an exercise in texture. Supple and sexy is the best way to describe the experience. Plenty of fruit and tobacco but instead of a stiff punch in the mouth, it’s presented in a glove of cashmere. A fun wine. Drink now, probably? A generous gift from the cellar of C. Medley. — 7 years ago
1961 Legend stands out in spectacular form! It might be the silkiest wine I ever had as the velvety texture opens gently into cashmere and seamless transition to rich cocao laced ganache like sentiment which was the best sludge I’ve ever tasted too! Wow...deserves the legend! — 8 years ago
Incredibly soft and smooth - like cashmere... but a short finish, perhaps scarf not sweater... but I like cashmere scarves. — 9 years ago

The 1989 La Conseillante is one of the top performers in Pomerol and arguably now one of the best values. This bottle confirms that exuberance and joie-de-vivre on the nose, displaying the telltale crushed violets in bloom, with precious but controlled red and black fruit underneath. The palate is sumptuous from the start, presenting cashmere tannin and perhaps a little more glycerine in this bottle. The bravura finish leaves you grinning from ear to ear. Stunning, and it will remain on its plateau for many years. Tasted at the 1989 Bordeaux dinner at Hatched in London. (Neal Martin, Vinous, September 2019) — 6 years ago
