King Under the Mountain Vol. 3 Tasting Event.
My wine steward brought me a chalice of this to pair with the mutton dish. I liked it so much that my steward’s miserable life. #payitforward — 7 years ago
In a world where skin contact whites seem to be vying for the title of orangest, haziest, apricottyest, the elegance and grace in this wine are a reminder of the possibilities. Aged on the skins in amphora, the result is a bright, orchard and citrus mountain stream with an amazing texture that never once makes you think orange wine. From magnum, which seems to me to be the right serving size for two. — 8 years ago
Best domestic Grüner I've ever had. Lots of green, ripe citrus and orchard fruits, lees influence, and varietal savories (lentil, radish, parsnip, pea purée). 12.7% alcohol puts this in ripe, clean federspiel territory. Similar to Prager or FX in style. There's something special in the Columbia Gorge, I think. Anyone know if this is loess over decomposed basalt in the vineyard? — 11 years ago
I love this wine. Subtle nose, generous texture, incredibly refreshing. Aromas of cherry blossom, kaffir lime, citrus, and spearmint. Palate shows a touch of leesy goodness backed by riper orchard fruit. Then this wine moves to something that is reminiscent of cool mountain streams running over wet stones and is so cleansing on the palate. — 6 years ago

Seriously wine. Incredible nose. Orchard fruit, yelllow plum, lemon confit, liquid seashells, iodine. Polished throughout. Enough wood to structure without interfering. Somewhere between grand cru Chablis and puligny Montrachet, but with that fleshy yellow plum and whiff of mountain flowers that is utterly unique. With sea urchin pasta. Just. Wow. — 8 years ago
A great example of Viognier from Virginia, I was surprised to find nice minerality and brighter orchard fruits, medium bodied and deftly balanced, it finishes on a high note with a really nice beam of fresh acidity. Who knew Viognier could dazzle in this style, terroir from Virginia indeed on display here. — 9 years ago
Huge aromatics of fresh white peach and mountain flowers, crisp acidity and just ripe orchard fruit and citrus zest on the palate. Very long finish — 10 years ago
This wine is in my top ten wine list of 2013, among Carter Coliseum Block 2006 and Spotwoods 2001. — 13 years ago
Deep gold color. Initial note of oxidation quickly blows off, giving way to a lovely Roussanne nose of lanolin and yellow orchard fruit, along with a whiff of mountain stream. Broad and oily-textured, it got slightly bitter, intense flavors and great length. Probably because of the hot 15 growing season, this wine shows its relationship to the Roussannes of the Northern Rhône. — 7 years ago

Sweet apple to the max! Like a liquid candy apple. I love it! — 8 years ago
@Delectable Wine not Secrest Mountain - this is Bella Wines Chardonnay Ancestrale Orchard House Vineyard — 8 years ago
Crisp orchard fruits allow for a refreshing taste and mouth feel. Slight toast. Slight cool slate as the vine is from a mountain region. Could potentially pair nicely with gamey meats (duck), fish, or pasta. Would love to try other vintages as well. Good stuff. — 10 years ago
Blue Mountain Cherry Cider from Milton- Freewater Oregon. These guys are THE best in the country. Washington apples are like Michigan cherries.....epic. And guess what? They are smart enough to buy Traverse City cherries for the Blend? Mind blowing combo. AND, they do it right. Fresh pressed. No force carbonation. No added sugars. No added caramel colors. Orchard to bottle. Literally. That's it! Unlike those other brads that buy frozen Chinese apple concentrate, dump some potassium sorbate, and fake bubbles and serve that shitty soda pop as " cider". Frankly that kind of faux" orchard" crap makes me " angry"! Get it?? Ya see what I did there?? :). Truth be told - Uncle Johns, Tandem, Crispin..... You all do a nice job. Blue Mountain........league of their own. — 10 years ago

This is actually the jalapeño apple wine but it wasn’t on here. Nice light white wine. Slightly sweet with a bit of warmth and aftertaste from the jalapeño — 6 years ago
