Words “Anam Cara” are Celtic for “friend of my soul.” Nick and Sheila have made wines since planting grapes in 2001. Pale lemon with aromatic aromas of ripe tropical, stone & citrus fruits. On the palate tart apple and melon flavors, with a crisp citrus tang. Medium+ finish, vivid acidity with rich ending. Drinking well now. Nice value. — 5 years ago
Enjoyed this tasty and teenaged Anakota Cab at Amis in Philadelphia with a lively view of the kitchen and delicious steak. Rich and peppery with a bite. Lots of fun chatting with the kitchen crew and the rest of the team at Amis while witnessing some glorious dessert prep (pictured: melted chocolate in ramekins)... Thank you @Cara Zimmerman for the great recommendation! — 7 years ago
When in Rome (as they say) 75% Cab Franc, 25% Merlot. This needs air or you'll think it uninspiring (was best the next day). Violets and slight French oak nose. Smooth, clean blue fruits with tannins up front fading at mid palate. Med/short finish. Solid wine. — 8 years ago
Top Pinot noir - WOW and it has my name on it so it gets an extra .2 points for that ♥️ — 4 years ago
A Criolla Chica planted in Barreal, Calingasta, at 1,550 meters above sea level, up to 10% fermented in whole bunches. Terracotta in hue, it presents notes of strawberry, damp earth, herbs and traces of menthol as well as faint aromas of almond cookie and rum cake. Offers a complex mix of simple flavors; on the palate, the tannins are active with heightened freshness and a ruggedness that sticks to the gums, while the innate fruitiness comes out at the back of the throat. A great wine with a profile one rarely sees in reds on the local scene. (Joaquín Hidalgo, Vinous, October 2020) — 5 years ago
Big wine. Lots of citrus, various citrus fruits entire, lemons especially and tart small oranges, cara cara oranges. Needs some air, let’s see how that grows. Big spice on the finish. Flowers, like Lilly and slight lavender. It’s a powerful nose, maybe somewhat unresolved, I have to see how it plays out. After some air lots of saffron and some plastic water bottle on the nose that grows. Beeswax. Honeysuckle. Lots of acid. Tons of acid. Needs some time I think. — 5 years ago
The 2008 BdB Pol Roger has apples and lemon, and some Christmas stuffing characteristics too. Very open and inviting.
Bringing in the New Year quietly but happily, having spent the latter part of the day hanging art while a stew slowly cooked. Cara is 7+ months along so not really holding her own when it comes to Champagne, or any wine for that matter. Extra glasses for me... — 6 years ago
Not knowing much about Croatian wine, we asked the advice of our waiter who's knowledge clearly exceeded the requirements of the majority of his job. A beautiful crisp, clean wine with a great balance of dry vs. fruit. — 8 years ago
