Bright Rudy leaning toward translucent garnet in the glass. Outstanding fruit purity and transparency at year 10. Strawberry, sour cherry, cranberry, pomegranate, and blood orange sprinkled with rose petals, dried porcini and licorice. Elegant medium body. Mellow dusty tannins leads to a long juicy finish with aromatic lift.
A very pretty Barolo. — 3 months ago

This showed red cherry, berry with savory spice, leather, earth with floral & tobacco notes. Still fresh at 25 yrs — 6 months ago
Vigorously poured into a decanter about 30 minutes prior to service; enjoyed over the course of several hours. The 2017 Gabutti “Pie Rupestris” pours a deep garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with heavy notes of ripe and tart Morello cherry, fresh cut roses (stems and all!), tar, dried herbs, exotic eastern spices, talcum powder and dried earth. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose, though everything seems to be enhanced on the palate; powerful! The finish is super long. This is a gorgeous example of 2017 Barolo and likely one of the very finest of the vintage. Drink now through 2067. — 10 months ago
2015: Outstanding Aglianico. Dominated by gobs of darker red fruit earlier on before picking up tertiary leather and graphite flavors. Rich and mouth coating and already drinking well, but clearly will get increasingly complex over time. $50 on Delectable. — 5 years ago

Ruby/ brick in color with medium intensity.
Beautiful nose with blue and red fruits, caramel, light oak, cooked cherries, red currants and tobacco leaf.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with cherries, raspberries, spices, light oak, earth, chocolates, tobacco, espresso and peppercorn.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This 10 year old Barolo is still fresh and vibrant. Delicious and easy drinking with a great mouthfeel. Complex and well balanced. Tangy and interesting.
Already drinking beautifully, and will continue to age nicely in the next 20 years and beyond.
Gorgeous, elegant and robust. A great sipping wine to share with friends and talk about.
100% Nebbiolo grapes were aged in large Slavonian oak barrels for 6 years.
14% alcohol by volume.
93 points.

A mid cherry red in colour. Aromatics of red fruits, menthol and touches of tar and roses. Light to medium bodied on the palate - surprising for a Barolo with medium plus intensity. Different and interesting in a good vintage from an excellent producer. Next in a year. — 6 months ago
Tasted blind . Medium garnet , more terracotta rim . More closed on the nose , some sweet cherry and cedar , orange rind and touch of anise . This is again quite fresh on the palate , some cherry and cedar , cut herbs , anise . Pretty grippy tannins . Reasonable length with good strawberry , raspberry , liquorice tinged finish . Needs a little more time , better in a couple of years and will last well a further 5-10. — 7 months ago
Opened just prior to service and poured into a decanter. This is the second time I have had the opportunity to enjoy the 1967 Riserva although, the previous bottle was a more recent library release from the Borgogno cellars. This was a period release and yet, the experience was similar.
The 1967 Riserva pours a deep garnet color with a transparent core moving towards a slightly orange rim. Medium viscosity with no staining of the tears and some slight signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous but showing much more power than the ‘67 Abbazia SS Annunziata we drank on the same evening. Again, there is a lovely mix of ripe and desiccated red and dark fruits with forest floor, porcini, dried roses, tar, some tobacco, dried herbs, dusty earth and exotic spices. On the palate, the wine is dry; medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long a savory. My previous notes suggested to drink now and while I still hold fast to that statement, twice in the span of 18mos with two separate bottlings encourages me to be a bit more bullish and suggest this has many years, perhaps decades left in the tank. — 9 months ago

1982 Bruno Giacosa Serralunga d'Alba Riserva Barolo. Second red at post-museum lunch at Il P. Drank this alongside the '82 Giacosa Brunello. This was much more well rounded with a longer finish. More favored of the two wines hands down — 10 years ago
Nose - forest floor, wood, tobacco, moss. Main flavors - stewed plum and light baking spices. A bit of tannic structure but overall smooth and earthy. Like no Pinot noir I’ve ever had. Tremendous! Read the James Suckling review and he has it right it’s moody. But I think moody in the best possible way. — 3 months ago
Opened too young; lovely and exceptionally made wine. Brickish red/brown. I let decant for a loooong time. Lots of cranberry and red fruit, some herbs, clay, faint cedar and tobacco. The acidity was med-high, but the tannins really softened out with aeration. I'd say this is still developing flavors and will be 95+ in a decade. — 5 months ago
This was loaded with lots of berry notes and tobacco jumped out. Drinking great but a lot going on at dinner at Le Virtú in Philly. — 9 months ago

Light for a Barolo. Lots of earthiness, mushrooms and forest. Light color and finish. There are better Barolos available. — 2 months ago
