From one of my favorite co-ops. I believe they are still the third largest co-op in Europe. Their tasting room sits on the top of the hill in the center of Barbaresco under & to the side of the church with an easy downhill short walk to Gaja.
2019 was a very good vintage in Piedmont.
The nose shows some light smokiness and lightly grilled meats. Dullish fruits of; blackberries, dark cherries, poached strawberries, raspberries with notes of black raspberries. Sandstone, dark earth and dark withering flowers with red roses.
The palate is ripe, juicy and lush. Quite pleasant for a youthful Barbaresco. Blackberries, dark cherries, poached strawberries, black raspberries, raspberries & blueberry hues. Crushed sandstone & limestone, nice mid spice, dry tobacco, tough leatheriness, barrel shavings, soft presence mix of dry & fresh herbs, dry river stone, red cola, brilliant red florals, red & pink roses, excellent acidity with a nicely tensioned, structured, balanced, elegant finish that lasts minutes landing on wood & dry earth.
Another one to cellar 8-10 plus years. — 8 months ago
Puts on weight with air. Gobs of plum jam and cherry pie. Balanced and elegant even with the 15% alc. Blind tasters guessed Cerasuolo and Super Tuscan. — 6 years ago
Wifey & I are not big into Prosecco but we really like this one. Not too fizzy, not too sweet, very slightly dry on the finish - overall; very nice. — 9 years ago
It’s been almost 8 years since I last enjoyed the 2011 Asili and I’m happy to report that it’s still a stunner. Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two hours. The wine pours a garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with powerful notes of ripe and tart red fruits: raspberries, strawberry, pomegranate, roses, tar, talcum powder, dried green herbs and dry earth. On the palate, the wine is one dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. This is gorgeous and it’s no wonder I thought so highly of it back in 2017. While this is firing on all cylinders right now, the future remains bright. Drink now through 2041+. Had it Oct 2021. Light no tanins. Great at the end of the meal!! — 4 years ago
Pop and pour yesterday. Lovely Gavi. Sea salt and cotton candy florals on the nose. On the palate: excellent acidity and density, lovely salt and lemon notes and a clean finish. Unfussy and yumny. — 4 years ago
Ambrosial bouquet with expressive notes of dried cherry, wild strawberry sauce, kirsch, mulberry, blueberry compote, violet, black tea, potpourri, black licorice, star anise, clove, vanilla, crushed stone, leather, and forest floor.
Highly structured, with broad shoulders, on the palate. It’s delicious now, even as a baby, with runway to age, soften, & gain additional dimension. 😍 — 4 months ago
Cherry strawberry tobacco
Opened it before the Russian central bank unexpectedly left the interest rate unchanged. Hence a boost to the rating ;) — 6 months ago

Mid Ruby in colour. Aromas of menthol. On the palate again, virtually no fruit at 15 years - ultra savoury with sandy, tarry, fine powdery, yet persistent tannins. This was a great match with Roast Lamb for Mother’s Day in Australia. No. 3086 of 10,000 bottles. Jancis’s tasting note back in 2012 said “this would make a great introduction to mature Nebbiolo “. — 5 years ago

really liked this, hadn't heard of this varietal - ended thinking it tasted like Pecorino. straw colored, lovely nose of citrus & white flowers, waxy, herbaceous, a wild element, even some tropical fruit as it warmed, med bodied, silky yet vibrant acidity, more mineral on palate but still w/fruit from nose... persistent finish. what a treat! bump for QPR — 2 months ago
