This '81 was amazing, and showed many facets through the evening.
The Préfert was really wonderful, the first time drinking Isabel's wines, delicious.

I fondly remember this wine. Had a couple of bottles in my dad’s cellar in the late 80’s. Some field mice got in and gnawed the top of the capsules off only two bottles in the cellar: both of the ‘81 Beaucastels! They knew. (They left the corks intact and the bottles were stellar.)

Liked this a lot! Unclear what grapes but it had a smoky - peppery vibe, like petit Syrah. Super light and easy to drink too and paired well with a pork pasta and dry aged steak at Russ and daughters for Christy’s Bach. $100 at the resto — 9 months ago
