Consistent quality year in and year out . The difference is how the fruit is presented. The 2015 version presents the same quality fruit and balance as previous vintages, the difference is the fruit is showcased in a fuller, rounder light in 2015. Lacks some of the focus that the ‘14 had that I prefer but in no way does this take away from the high quality of this wine. — 7 years ago
When I tasted this wine fresh at the UGC in Bordeaux, it was one of the wines of the day. However, I must confess it was one of over a hundred wines I tasted that day. This is my first taste of it since then. Being an 04, it will forever be overshadowed by the 05 vintage. The wine while evolving nicely is still a fairly long way from being ready. Right now, it needs food/grilled meat to bring it to a fuller life. The 04 is; dry blackberries, spiced black plum, dark cherries, violets, decayed floral bouquet, mocha chocolate, dry herbs, mint, menthol, strong leather, lots of graphite, tar, tobacco with ash, dry dark soil, dry pebbles, volcanic minerals, dry stems & big spice. The structure and tannins are still big. The fruit and earth are only beginning to come into balance and still need a lot of evolutionary work. The length is still somewhat austere but long. The acidity is a short of what is required. The finish is sticky big dry tannins, dry dark cassis, mocha chocolate, big spice, dry herbs but has it's pleasure. The 04 needs another 8-10 years before it delivers on any of it's early preconceived expectations. However, this wine has the potential to be much more than it has tonight. — 9 years ago
I am not big on white wines but this one surprised me. It has a much fuller flavor than most whites with a light finish. I enjoyed it. — 10 years ago
Initial overtones red fruit on the nose that suddenly shifts to undertones of menthol, bergamot and menthol. Fuller bodied than you might expect. Raspberry and cranberry tartness and purple flowers like lilac on the palette. You feel the 14.5% a bit but still a great wine. — 6 years ago
We had this on 3/17-18/19. Silky texture. Tastes of black cherry, plum, spice and cardomom. Medium bodied wine but fuller than one from Sonoma or Oregon. Better than expected. — 7 years ago
Fuller bodied, but still more light / feminine — 8 years ago
Flavorful, easy drinking, surprisingly good. — 9 years ago
Yum. A smooth fuller tasting Cab Franc — 9 years ago
'07 vintage - like the others said - burns a bit on the back end - some fruit; seems to get better with more time. — 9 years ago
In the fuller style of a Duckhorn Goldeneye.
It's really a very enjoyable bottle. Outstanding balance with a really clean finish. You can't go wrong. — 10 years ago
A medium garnet color with a wide rim. Classic Barbaresco nose of dried roses, cherries, and dark chocolate. Absolutely gorgeous on the nose. This is one of those producers where you just know that it’s going to be good. A fuller bodied Nebbiolo that’s dancing gracefully at the moment. Ripe tannins that do need a bit of air before the fruit can be fully uncovered. Silky smooth on the tongue and just plain delectable. Touches of leather and dried herbs to go along with the oak, stewed plums, and more cherries on the palate. Chocolate mousse and tobacco follow on the long finish. This can definitely hold up a for several more years but I wouldn’t blame you for opening now. — 7 years ago
racy with ample notes of ripe citrus, apple and mid palate turned more fuller body even tiny bit oily towards the end come the hints of stony minerality. high acidity, well balanced. what a delicious wine. — 7 years ago
Much better than the other 2 (so far) Russian River "test" Pinots, Annabelle and Ron Rubin - not at all "thin" as those previous test wines. Fuller body, richer, full flavored with credible fruit - a "deeper" Pinot. Great on the palate, good balance, very tasty finish. Comparative class still not up more expensive class of most Mueller, Siduri, Merry Edwards and Kosta Brown Pinots - but very drinkable. Twin Liquors wine expert considered it finer quality than 2 previous test wines, more like French Burgundy. A good value at $24/btl. — 8 years ago
This took about 10 minutes from being opened to start showing a rich strawberry and a very showy mineral nose. A nice juxtaposition from the riper and fuller 2015. This is lean and restrained. Funky and nice as always. I have a mag I think I will keep another 2 years. — 8 years ago
This Pinot was delicious! A fuller bodied Pinot! — 10 years ago
Russ Fowler
Terrible label, delicious wine. Toasty, almondy chard. A fuller flavoured alternative to the usual burgundies at a similar price — 6 years ago
